How available are grand villas?

After a couple of years of thinking about it and a trip over Thanksgiving with some more thinking and resort tours we're about to buy DVC within the next couple of months.

Animal Kingdom is where we've decided to buy. When we go I take 10 people so we'd be wanting a grand villa so everyone can stay together. Then after reading some stuff on here today the question popped into my mind, is there any ever any difficulty securing a grand villa at the 11 month mark?

Most of our trips are usually during the slower time the first week or two in December. Should I expect any issues booking a grand villa at AK for 8-9 days during this time period?

I'd hate to spend that much money then have trouble sometimes getting the room I want. I don't know how many grand villas are available or how high the demand for them is so I thought I'd ask here and see what yall thought.

This is the HIGHEST demand time for DVC due to the lower point cost. However, AKV has plenty of GV's and I would think at your 11m mark you'd have no trouble at all at Kidani. I just looked and there are still Kidani GV's available for that time frame but no Jambo house ones.

Ok, cool.

So another question. If we decided to stay at another resort, BW for example, what are the odds of being able to get a GV there at 7 months?

Which also brings up one more question. If I got the points at AK and then latter on got a contract for BW would I then have two home resorts and could I combine points from both contracts to book at either resort at the 11 month mark?

Thanks again for the help.

There are less GVs at BWV than at AKV, 7 GVs versus 22 at AKV, so I expect it would be harder to get a GV at BWV for December. But an owner would have a greater chance at the 11 month mark.

You can only combine points from different resorts at the 7 month mark.

Find out which is your favorite resort and buy there for the 11 month booking advantage unless you really don't mind not always getting what you want.

For us, mixed results over the years, spending thousands and thousands of dollars hoping to get what you want seemed crazy. We sold the farm and bought our favorite resorts.

I'm a BWV owner and have booked GV's a couple of times. There are only 7 GV's at BWV, I'd say unless you own you would never get one in the fall through January. I think other times of year you'd maybe be able to get one at 7 months. Maybe. I would not count on it.
