How are your kids responding to the Olympics?

I love the Olympics! I've been watching just about everything, but my favorites are gymnastics, diving, swimming (so exciting), and I'm looking forward to the marathon. DH likes some of it more than he likes to admit. He gets into swimming too. DS 8 loves it all! My other 3 kids watch it some and play some.

By the way, we are a family of 6 with 2 TV's. One in the living room and one in our bedroom (that very rarely gets watched). The kids either watch the Olympics or nothing right now!

My DD's and I have been following the gymnastics and we enjoy the swimming. They are really into the women's gymnastics - older DD, 10 almost cried last night because I made her go to bed before it was over (they are already back in school). It's kinda fun to tell at the tv with them!

My DD10 is really enjoying the Olympics. My daughter loves swimming and also has been taking gymnastics for 3 years( NOT competitive) so she really loves watching the athletes.

We all thought syncronized diving was kinda
funny/odd.
That wouldn't be because the US men finished last in the final would it? ;)

Our family watches the Olympics constantly. Twin DD's are athletes, so they have a great deal of interest in almost every event.

We've been watching every night. DD6 often asks if they are on during the day. She and DS3 really like the swimming, diving and gymnastics. Also, DD6 wants to watch the equestrian events when they're on. She REALLY wants a horse! LOL!

I usually don't like to watch sports, but I've become really interested in some of the Olympic sports, such as gymnastics and swimming (like everyone else here).

We are sitting watching it now. My DS loves the gymnastics and swimming the best. I wish there was more of the equestrian stuff on tv, but only 1 broadcast scheduled according to our tv guide:( .

My son is watching when he can to get a glimpse of water polo. He plays on the HS team. The other morning I woke up to find a note from him on the breakfast table with all the highlights of a US win. It was fun to see him so enthused about something!

I saw some equestrian this morning on Bravo. It was the horsejumping.

my daughter is horse crazy. i thought she'd enjoy watching the equestrian events; but within 60 seconds of turning it on, she began to frown. I asked what was wrong, she said "the whips, the crops and the spurs, mom." and after another moment, her chin started to quiver! I said "I'm sorry, i didn't realize it would bother you so much, lets turn it off.' and we did. she could identify all the different horses that we saw at least five or six; she went on and on about the 'dappled gray, dark' horse that was from france.

when we turned it off, she said that she would rather see people riding horses without crops and spurs and 'without hurting them to win a stupid trophy or medal.'

wow, i had no idea my 8 year old was so passionate about animal rights. she blew my mind. talk about an unexpected reaction the olympics that was one i never expected!

she did get a laugh out of the story i told her about the lady in the opening ceremonies who had a 'glowing' pregnant belly lol.

when DH saw that he said "congratulations ma'am, it's a bouncing baby lightbulb." lol i laughed for 2 days about that.

My 24 DS loves watching all of it.

My 17 yr old DS can hardly wait to watch the track events as he qualified in State for hurdles and high jumps this spring.

The 15 yr DS watches it here and there, esp swimming and gymnastics.

My DS (6yo) loves the Olympics! He is very into them. He thinks the gymnastics are really cool. When they are on, he tumbles, jumps, rolls around the floor and then asks me to score him. He also loves the swimming, cycling and basketball. We were at the grocery store last night and I said we need to go fast and he said "so we can get home and watch the Olympics". he said that some day he wants to be in the Olympics.

My 6 and 9 year old are liking it. THey tumble on the floor, and flip over the couch!

My kids like it!

My boys will watch a bit here and there. They are mainly interested in basketball. They have watched some swimming and gymnastics, though, and kinda liked that. :)
