We are staying at VWL 2br 12/21-12/26 and cant wait now that planning is through. WE are planning to decorate our home. Will disney still decorate for you if requested and about how much ? Does anyone know? WE have an artificial tree about 6ft high and 2ft wide which we hang all our disney ornaments on and were hoping to at least bring this tree and set up in room. Will there be any problems with this.IF anyone else decorates for xmas please share. We have never stayed over xmas as the two previus times we were there for the holidays left 2-3 days before xmas but with discounts this year decided to go there for xmas.

Can't Wait to be Home for the Holidays

Several people, ourselves included, bring one or more strands of Christmas lights and string them on their balconies.

We did this at OKW - which was really neat - kinda like driving through a "neighborhood" where the neighbors were all decorating for the holiday!

I would assume you could do the same on your balcony at VWL.

Sorry - don't know about Disney's prices to decorate...

This is exciting. I never thought of decorating the room @ Disney. Now I have to plan a trip for Christmas time!!! With all of the Disney decorations I have, I will not know what to bring. My entire Christmas tree at home (Indiana) is in the Disney Storybook ornaments. The icicle type lights would be beautiful at the VWL, so icicles appear to be hanging off the balconies!

Take a picture and post it here when you get back.

We went a couple of years ago and we drove down. We brought with us a tree and all the fixings. We put lights on the tree and packages under it just like home. When anyone came to our room they were surprised to see it. It isn't Christmas without a tree. We were at BWV and had their Christmas dinner in our room. It was nice, but not like home. It was very expensive, also. Disney will decorate your room, but it was very high. As I remember it was well over 100 and maybe closer to 200 dollars for a small tree with decorations. You could go to one of the stores there and buy a small tree and all the stuff to decorate it. It would be cheaper than Disney even if you had to leave it behind. No one told us there was a problem with the tree. We never left it on at night or when we left the room. We don't at home either. As for the Christmas dinner, I hear the dinners from the grocery stores there are OK. I am sure we will try that next time. Have a Merry Christmas there. It is so very beautiful, just little warm for me.

icicle lights on balcony sounds GREAT and IT looks like WE have 3 balconies at VWL in 2BR. PLan to bring our tree and Disney ornaments and presents under tree.Any other ideas?

We go on Thanksgiving Day, so we're not there real close to Christmas, but we do put Disney Christmas clings on the window.

Also...I remember hearing this last year on the DIS and plan to do it this year...to hang lights around the windows, use hooks with suction cups.

I think we'll skip the tree...unless I can find one that's not too big...but I'd welcome more suggestions as well. :)

We flew down the year before last in December and I still packed a small table top Christmas tree for the dining table and a small string of lights. Then we bought small Disney ornaments every day to add to our tree. We also did like MaryAnn and brought clings for the balcony doors and the mirrors. We also brought a number of travel candles that had Christmas decore on them.

We found christmas lights, ordaments and garland very easy to pack and really helped decorate the room for Christamas for our trip to Vero last year. Wal mart had some extras that we were able to hang around the villa. Unfortuantely, the weather didn't agree with us, and it was a bit cold for lots of swimming and beach fun. We still had a nice time.

Just to let you know....there are only 2 balconies in the VWL 2BR's. There is no balcony off the master bedroom, so no need to bring lights for that room.

Have a great trip. They say the lodge is beautiful at Christmas!

Thanks for info about VWL. I knew I had seen picture with 3 balconies and when I looked in guidebook you are right only 2 balconies but then I looked at Disney site and the layout of rooms there shows 3 balconies.Have you stayed there? It really doesnt matter.Really looking forward to VWL at Christmas from I can tell.Probably have our artificial tree with all our Disney ornaments, icicle lights on balcony and probably some lights and garland around some doors and our disney stockings Also presents under tree. .wiil take plenty extension cords and those hooks with suction cups.Xmas cant come too soon.

donald@home.

I don't <i>recall</i> having to string the lights through a bedroom door and leave the door cracked to plug in the lights, so I'm pretty sure there is an outlet on the balcony.

Here's an idea. We are doing this at our home this year. We are using red, white and blue lights to decorate the outside of our home.
