Hey all!

Just wondering if the crab legs were good at Cape May Cafe? We went to the Garden Grove (at the SWAN HOTEL) and they had crab legs. Well, they were awful. They were dried out and just did not taste good.

Any thoughts about Cape May Cafe???

BTW we are BOMA fans, we just wanted to try something different.

Thanks all!

We were just there on Friday night & it was GREAT! My boys LOVE crab legs & both ate a ton! Our waiter was fantastic & I can't wait to go next year :)

Thet weren't great but not poor either. Waiter said he never saw someone so little (my 5 foot 110lb aunt) eat so many crab legs. :worship:

Every time we go to WDW my boys and husband request we eat there for the crab legs. Probably the best meal for the money paid.

It depends on the taste you are looking for, no seasoning just boiled in salt water. We did not appreciate them, but we like them seasoned - we are from New Orleans, so we only go for breakfast now.

We were not impressed with the crab legs. The night we went, they were sticking to the shells something terrible and I don't mean just a few pieces...we had to scrape 90% of the meat out of every single leg that we cracked and the meat was overcooked and just blah.

Stupid question...When you cracked open the crab leg, and pulled them apart, did the meat come out easily? LOL! I'm from Baltimore, king of the Maryland blue crab! LOL!

Thanks to all that responded. Also, how much is the Cape May now?

Thank you!!

We were there last week. The crab legs were just ok. Not too big. And the meat did not come out easily....at least not the night we were there.

Hi! Thanks for the quick response. So, you had to pick it out with a knife? LOL!? Do you remember how much the buffet was?

Thanks again!

In February, I want to say it was $26.99 for adults and $12.99 for kids. We used our forks or fingers to dig all the meat out.

I've done Cape May several times for dinner, last time though was not impressed with the crab legs. Small, not a lot of meat and very difficult to get out what little there was. One reason I'm thinking about not going there this upcoming trip.

They have the little forks to get the meat out. We paid $30.99 for Adults and $14.99 for the kids (9 and under).

I was a crab pickin' machine when I ate there mid-July. I was able to crack the leg in half and easily pull the shell apart with a good chunk of meat in there. The meat was sweet, but I'd say the crab legs are "passable" overall. Not the best, but anything's good dunked in clarified butter, right?

I spent a lot of time with the crab legs because I was trying to pick a lot out of the sections. I know which ones are duds, but it still took time to finish. Some of my friends had a more difficult time getting the meat out, but I think it's because they haven't found the right method to crack 'em. I think they didn't remove cartilage first.

When we went in January we were disappointed with the crab legs. They were awful; small and dried out. But the rest of the buffet was nice. I'm not sure if we would bother to go back because I really went just for the crab legs. I think we'll try the character breakfast next time.

I was just there like 2 wks ago and thought the crab legs were ok but my very very picky daughter ate like 3 plates full. We do soak them in lots of butter though. Also we went on a very rainy Sat (with a walk up wait of about an 1hr) so turn over was pretty quick. Just looked an my reciept and it looks like it was 30.99 for adults and 14.99 for kids. Just a side note that I think the ribs were the true star of this buffet as I love them but I did have the crab legs too. I didn't really have much trouble getting the meat out. Yet I did leave some piece behind because of the buffet I figured why fight for my food. The do have little forks to scoop the stuff out. Enjoy if you deside to go.

The crab legs are "okay". If you like to pick at it and do all the work you will like it more than me. I have had meatier and bigger legs, where you get chunks every time you break one open. That will not happen there.
I don't go to Cape May Cafe thinking about the crab legs.

For seafood there, I like the steamed clams and peel n eat shrimp.
The last time I went there they had a great salad with shrimp in it.

The rest of the buffet is "okay".

There is a good assortment of choices beyond the seafood, chowder, corn on the cob selections.

The service there has been typically above average in our experiences.

Are the crab legs on the buffet now at Cape May? We were there last Aug and you had to pay extra for them.

1) Just AVERAGE !
2) Or slightly below average.
3) Anytime you put crab legs on a buffet, you CANNOT get quality.
4) An eatery could not afford endless crab legs for a set low price.

NOTE: This is like going to Lobster Feast and expecting great lobster for a buffet price, when everyone else sells lobster for $28-$35 per serving. Or going to Golden Coral and expecting all-you-can-eat great steaks for an $12 buffet price.
