How are crowds the week before Labor Day?

My friend is thinking about planning a trip to WDW the week before Labor Day. She said when she was a child, the crowds were light that week. Her daughter doesn't start school until after Labor Day, unlike most of the kids around here so she's thinking it would be a good week to go. However, when she checked an old copy of Birnbaum's, it said that crowds are heavy that week. She has a husband who has anxiety problems around large crowds so she definitely doesn't want to go when it's busy. I told her I'd post the question here-does anyone have any advice on crowd levels this week?

IMO, it's the best time to go. We've done that week for the last 3 years. It will be hot but the crowds are very low. Also, at Universal Orlando, you will virtually have the parks to yourself.

I agree 100%, one of the best times to go. However it is still really hot at this time, but you can always balance between airconditioned shows, waterparks, etc to cool off.
