Delta is limiting what we can fly down to FL with to 1 suitcase each and 1 carry-on. How am I possibly suppose to fit 3 of us into 3 carry-ons and 3 large suitcases? I just put into 1 of the suitcases (and it's overflowing) things Ive been putting aside - brought down to den from the attic closet. Oh my! DH will have a coronary once he realizes what Ive done!!! DS & I cant share a carry-on cos Im carrying on booze (hey I stopped for 3 mos, by the time I get on the cruise Im drinking) and he needs his stuff to travel.

Seriously, take out about at least 1/4 and up to 1/2 of the clothes you think you will need. You will be surprised at how little you do actually need on the cruise.

Our first cruise I was the same way, we packed tons of stuff we never wore.

All day you are basically in a swimsuit or cover up, or if you do an excursion shorts and t-shirt.

The only real clothes you need are some dressier things for the evenings --- and I mix and match alot. A couple pair of shorts, some tops, slacks, very few shoes and you will be all set.

Good luck

MJ

Why is Delta saying only one checked bag? I've always checked more luggage than that. Even if you had to pay as excess baggage, would they really limit you to only checking one bag?

Ijust got this from the Delta website:

"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What are the baggage limits for domestic travel?
Your ticket purchase includes up to three pieces of baggage. There is a charge for additional bags. Click Excess Baggage for the specific charges.
You may bring one bag onboard the aircraft with you, provided they meet Federal Aviation Administration regulations. The FAA mandates that all carry-on items must fit under a seat or in an enclosed storage compartment.

Our gate or flight personnel may need to further limit the amount of carry-on baggage for a particular flight depending on the cabin stowage capacity of the aircraft type and the expected number of passengers"

Not that you'd need 9 suitcases for the 3 of you, but it sounds like Delta wouldn't care if you way overpack.

That's right Barb,
You may check 2 bags carry on 1 and have 1 personal item.
The back pack counts as a carry on not as a personal item. In other words you would not be able to carry on a rolling suitcase and backpack....they would make you check one of them.Even if you say the backpack is your pocket book they wont accept it.

Are you carrying on liquor or getting it when you get to FLA?
We are planning on picking it up on FRI.- Lau

Listen to MJ and take out at LEAST 1/3 of what you are packing.

I can get three of us packed into TWO large suitcases and each of us has a small carry-on. And that includes having clothes for a few days at WDW after the cruise.

And if you need to, as others have said, Delta allows you two checked bags per PERSON as long as you only have one carry-on. Three bags per PERSON total. And that is WAAAAY more than you should even think about taking. ;)

Good luck!

That doesn't sound right.

Tale a look at http://www.delta.com/travel/trav_serv/bag_info/carry_on/index.jsp

Unless you're flying into Key West (which you wouldn't be doing because the cruise starts at Port Canaveral) or you're flying on Delta Shuttle, Delta's main baggage rule is:

Domestic U.S. Baggage Allowances
Delta accepts a maximum of two checked baggage items free of charge for each ticketed passenger, in addition to the one carry-on, plus one personal item. These guidelines do not apply to Delta's codeshare partners or Delta Shuttle. Additional restrictions may apply on certain flights.

Be sure to look at the Delta Air Liines Web site for other conditions and restrictions, including weight limits.

Of course, it's still a good idea not to pack too much.

On more tip: If you still have old suitacases -- you know, the ones that are shaped like rectangles with handles on the long end -- they're great for the ship because the empty suitcases slide right under the bed after you unpack. Many of the modern wheeled wonders are too thick to fit underneith the bed.

I called Delta back after I posted this. I asked what their policy is and was told 2 checked in and 1 carry-on. Told them this was different than the info I was given last week. They then told me the policy changed from 3 checkins to 2. So guess what? We now have more luggage to bring!!

But don't pack too much! Seriously, I will pack 3 of us into 1 large and 1 small suitcase, and we will each have a backpack to carry-on. That's it, and I assure you it will be too much, but DD8 has turned into the fashion princess and will pack everything she owns. Of course, our family travel rule is: You pack it, you carry it. :D

Pack some bounce sheets, laudry soap and quarters and plan to do some laudrey while on board.

We just went on a 7 day cruise, and for the 4 of us we had 5 bags, and after returning I now thing we could have done it with 4 bags. BUT our biggest problems was packing to come home. We need more room to pack to return than what we had to start with. Luckily I had some tote bags and we used those and carried them off the ship.

Next year, we decided to pack an empty backpack for each of us. Then the morning we get off the ship we can each put our 'stuff' in our backpacks.

Also, we had one large suitcase, one garment bag, and 3 smaller suitcases. Next year, we plan to buy another large suitcase and take 2 large suite cases, 1 garment bag, and our one sundries bag that I carry on.

You can get by with a lot less than you think.

I was planning on packing our collaspible cooler and another foldup bag into 1 of the large suitcases. Once we get to FL buying soda, etc to have brought onboard. IF we need more space to fly back home, 1 of these can get checked.

You really should rethink what you are taking, we had 3 people packed in 2 large suitcases and one small carry on and it was fine.
Th first cruise I went on I overpacked so much it wasn't funny, I got smarter this time and took the bare minimum!
