We'll be in the world 12/12 to 12/18. My husband got this brilliant idea that he wants to take a family picture while we're there, make a Christmas card out of it, and send them out from WDW.
Realistically this will have to happen on Day 1 or 2. We'll have a rental car, so I guess I could zip to Walmart (we usually go there anyway to stock up on waters and snacks) and make up the cards on their machine?? Has anyone done this? I've only used shutterfly and other online svcs for our cards before.
We're staying at AKL and were planning on going to AK park on arrival day. I guess I would need to take the picture at AKL somewhere (I assume they have nice holiday decorations somewhere in the lobby??) Day 2 we're going to MVMCP - great place for a picture, but then it's starting to get late in the game to pull this off.

Help me brilliant, creative minds of the Dis!

I used WalMart for my DS's graduation cards this year and it was quick and easy. You shouldn't have a problem!

If you're a Costco member you can get them done there and they have Disney cards as well. We did that two years ago and they were done in an hour, they had envelopes and were done in an hour.

I did this one year when we went to Hawaii. I had the pictures printed at Costco. I didn't need/want to spend time addressing them during our vacation though. We wrote notes and addressed them during our plane ride home and mailed them when we got home. It worked slick.

Could do this ahead of time and bring them to WDW so all you're doing is printing, stuffing, and mailing.

You could get those cards that are made already and you just slide the pic inside it. That way you can have them all filled out and ready to be mailed. Take the pic and get them devloped at walmart and slip the pic in and mail. Also it will save time.

Are you set on it being a photo card? You could get regular cards so that you can get them all addressed and stamped in advance and then slip the 4X6 photos inside.
Otherwise, I have heard good things about both Walmart and Costco cards that PPs have suggested.

I checked out the Costco Disney cards - very cute.
I may go with the cards that slip in though - the logistics are just esier. I don't know why I didn't think about that before - I guess because we've always done the photo cards.
Anyway, great suggestions from everyone! Thank yout!

definately buy the long slim envalopes NOW and address , stamp and return address all of em NOW then just take the pix, print at wallmart or wherever into slimline cards(those long slim cards that fit in to those long slim envalopes u already addresses) and mail from WDW:santa:

Another alternative would be to print out labels at home with everyone's addresses on them. Then you would just need to stick labels, stamps and go. You could still do the photo card that way.

Or, if you opt to do traditional no-photo cards and put a regular 4x6 photo in them, you could print the photos at Walgreens or CVS. There are locations not too far from the downtown Disney area. This way you just add photo seal and mail.

Walgreens
12100 S Apopka Vineland Rd, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32836

CVS
8242 WORLD CENTER DRIVE, Orlando, FL 32821

If you have internet access you could upload your photo and order the pictures online for instore pickup. This would save time.

Walmart also has Disney themed borders for the cards that would be so very cute !! They are only like .29 cents each ( also ready in an hour). I also think it is a great idea to print out the addresses ahead of time. Hope they turn out great for you !!

Here is what you do:

1. Think, "Hey, this was my husband's idea!"
2. Let him figure it out
3. Laugh

If you feel like adding another layer of difficulty, send them from Christmas, FL so they can have the postmark. The town is just west of Orlando, probably about an hour away from AKL.

Whatever you decide, I suggest mailing them from outside Disney property. The internal mailing system seems to add some extra time and you don't want them be any later, especially during a busy time of year for the USPS.

Gosh, I'm glad somebody finally said something about it being DH's idea...why are you doing all the work? At the very least, it could be a joint effort, and he could address ALL those envelopes...oh and make sure you get the kind you have to lick to seal :lmao:

Yes, AKL has a very large, beautiful tree in the lobby. You can see pics of it at www.allearsnet.com. There are also trees and decorations at AK.

Good luck w/ your DH's project.
