I wanted to visit MGM but if we won't be able to get on many rides due to crowds, won't AK be less crowded on NYE?

usually, that time of year, ak closes at 4 or 5 and no nye activities take place due to the animals and their safety.

They don't have any bands during the day?

I don't know what normal New Year's Eves are like but I was up there for the Millenium New Years Eve and I had the best time in MGM!

We did AK on New Year's Eve last year and it was great! The park wasn't very crowded at all, however it closed at 5:00 or so, if I remember correctly. That was fine with us, since our strategy was to avoid some of the crowds and spend the evening in one of the hotels. If you're planning on spending the evening in one of the other theme parks, they may well be filled to capacity earlier in the day.

Was there any additional entertainment more than usual?

Jodi, I may be wildly unobservant, or possibly completely forgetful, but I just don't recall seeing any special activities at AK on New Years Eve. Everything seemed to be business as usual. I think we'll spend this NYE at AK again, and then head over to 'Ohana for one of their great dinners. I'm into crowd avoidance!
