How about not booking any Fast Passes?

Heading to the World at the end of January, to celebrate my husbands 65th Birthday. I booked really late, like last week. That freakin' birthday just snuck up on me:).

We're only there for four nights but we're old hands at this. We have used FP previously but this time, I'm considering not planning every minute, i.e. picking what days we're going to what parks before we even get there. Has anyone tried that recently? We are early morning risers and usually make Rope Drop. Am I going to be really unhappy that I didn't FP anything? TIA!

Happy Holidays!

I didn't set up any fast passes pre-trip last year and decided what to do each day spur of the moment. We set up our fast passes after we decided on our park for the day. I don't like having a schedule when I'm on vacation. We had a great time.

Sounds like a plan! We don't do fast passes either. If we know where we are going, then we will book the day before...if nothing...oh well.

Appreciate the thoughts. I do see the point of seeing what's available when we get there and decide where to go each day. If we do RD but decide we want to do one of the "biggies" again, I can check the app and see if something is available. We went last year and I had FP for every day and we felt like we were being "driven" by the scheduled Fast Passes. I'm hoping the last week of January isn't too crazy crowded.

I sure can't see how it can hurt to grab a pass for a few things like the Safari, test track, or Peter Pan.

there is some app you can get on your smart phone that will allow you to change your FP anytime... my wife made changes to our FPs the day we were at the park, no worries and were there just last week (crazy busy)..

Yep, it's a great app. I'm trying to get away from scheduling everything before we even leave home. I think I'll check available times for what we want to see on any given day. I have made a few ADR's but those aren't written in stone either. Gonna maybe fly by the seat of our pants for a change. Again, hoping the last week of January won't be crazy.....

Just be sure to cancel any ADRs you don't want before the end of the previous day, so you are not charged the $10 per person no-show fee.

Of course you should do whatever works for your family, but we actually found that having pre-booked fastpasses made our days feel MORE relaxed, not more regimented.

The window for each FP is an entire hour -- and actually an hour and 20 minutes if you consider the 5 minutes early and 15 minutes late grace periods -- and other than a few, can be adjusted on the fly using the app. If you find you can't make it? No big deal, there are no negative repercussions.

I guess it helps to be very familiar with the parks, crowd patterns, and what our family enjoys. We find it freeing to know that we have three high-demand attractions reserved. YMMV!

Better to have them and not use them than to need them and not have them.

Just spent 2 weeks over XMAS and never reserved one FP+ until during the day of, or at earliest the night before. Great luck again from 7dmt to all the mountains, pan, pirates, HM. AK is always easy at least those weeks were, DHS was easy as well. We picked RNR, TOT and STours the day of and also did Frozen Forever, Fantasmic and Star Wars Fireworks all after 6pm.

That's fine for us, but as others have said reserving some would seem to make sense if you have some faves.

And as others have said, sometimes having selections can help decide what days to do what. Everyone is different of course. I mean waking up knowing you have TSM, TOT and STOURS for that night, as well as Fantasmic, Star Wars fireworks, B&B or whatever, still gives you the whole morning and afternoon to do anything you want. And one great night waiting for you.

Love the system. Have fun.

We found the same with our trip: we used what was convenient (and some things were very, very helpful!) and we ignored ones that weren't. No worries!

I was really pleased that I could pre book our fast passes it helped plan the day
