How about a Positive Thread???

I almost forgot the most magical thing that ever happened to us! It was mine and DH's first trip together. We were exploring the Hall of Presidents and there was this wonderful older woman CM in there named "Athena". She told us the most fascinating stories and walked us around the building. She was very impressed with my DH's military experience and gave us some insider tips. We told her it was our first trip together as a couple and we had just gotten married a few months ago. She asked where we were staying and we did not think anything of it. When we made it back to our room at the Poly, there was a beautiful gift basket with fruit, wine and chocolates. Sitting beside the basket were a huge stuffed Mickey Groom and Minnie Bride. We were quite taken aback and could not figure out where it came from. We questioned the CM at the front desk and she just said, "A fellow cast member dressed in colonial attire was here and asked that this be placed in your room." We knew right away it was Athena. We decided to repay here with something equally special but couldn't think of anything until 3 years later when we had our daughter. We named her Athena after the wonderful CM we met at WDW!

Edited to add: Does anyone know if "Athena" the CM is still employed at WDW? She was probably about 60 when we were there in 1998.

What a beautiful story and what a special honor to name your child after this lovely lady! :lovestruc

I have only been to WDW once so far but it was truly a magical trip.
*I was standing in a long line for Haunted Mansion w/ my kids along w/ a group we had met up with. There were about 15 of us and the baby was crying and wouldn't let anyone else hold her.I was about to get out of line when a CM came up to me and asked how many were in my group. She led us to another door and we were immediataly ushered in.My daughter stopped crying as soon as we got in and giggled the whole time on the ride.
There were so many little thing that happened while we were there to make the trip special. That is why I am going back for another "once in a lifetime trip". :wave2:

Princesspiglet, I hope someone knows if Athena is still there. I would like to look her up- I am also an Athene! I am always on a look out for another Athene/Athena, and my bestfriends brother and SIL named their only baby Athena... It is such a nice name to have.
Blessing on your little girl and whole family!

PS-I half wanted to name my daugther Minervia... but could not bring my self to do so.. and I did not think most people would get the connection! And it is a good thing, she is no "Minnie" in anyway....

I think half the fun of going to Disney is doing some little thing that makes a difference for someone else. It just extends the magic a lot farther for me, and having been on both the giving and recieving end of magic, I can't say that either is better!

What a great thread! And so much better than watching the evening news...

On our last trip, we stood in ine for about 20 minutes to ride RnR. My brother, who has leg braces, had quite a hard time getting into the ride, but we (and the CM's) were determined that he would ride. Well, when we got back to the station, they told us to stay in our seats, and we got another ride! How fun.

Keep em' coming!
