How about a NO KIDS WEEKEND?!?!?!?!

Goofie and Jersey...DGF and I just booked WL for Sept. 24-29...We heard the secret and are gonna live the dream! :thumbsup2 DWAOBs UNITE!

An entire weekend? Forget it, absolutely not logistically possible. Too many people just show up at WDW without any advance planning at all, and there is no way that Disney would set themselves up for as much bad press at that would cause. (Look at what happens now when the clueless show up on Gay Day.)

Your best hope is a series of hard-ticket evening events like MVMCP. THAT they might do.

I'm in the middle with what appears to be the majority. I'd love to go without my own kids, but having kids around me is usually more fun than annoyance. There's something about how kids see the parks that just enhances my own enjoyement of them.

For example, kids never ever, even for a minute, wonder if that's a girl inside of that Mickey Mouse costume. Heck, most kids don't even think "costume". Most grown-ups do both.

Now, if we could make it Peter-Pan-style grownups (i.e.: not-grown-ups) only, then maybe we're talking!

Neat idea, but I would also point out that as adult visitor who often tours the parks solo, I really enjoy watching families trying their best to keep their younguns entertained as the day wears down. Always reminds me of when my five children were growing up and my wife and I would take them to an amusement park or major zoo. "Darn," I would think. "Crying again (or sleeping in the stroller)! "And after I paid a bunch for these admission tickets. Darn!"

These years I like to see parents going through what I went through a few years ago. Makes my day, don't you see?

So, WDW without children? I think not. But an interesting idea nonetheless.

Enjoy.

:woohoo: Lilly....now you're talking!!! I would totally go for that too! :thumbsup2

Dep....too funny! We're leaving for our cruise on Sept 24th also! We figure most parents don't want to take their kids out of school that early in the year. Well, I am! And darn proud of it!

awww SeaSpray, you have to get Si out of the attic! I have Si and Am all over my house and buy everything with them on it, lol! Including 3 frames over XMas from Epcot for each of my babies! :cat:

Jerseylicious, you seem like such a wise old soul. I wouldn't mind having a BFFAEAE just like you :love2: - but only if you loved Disney. Oh well! :confused3

This thread brings up one of the great mysteries of life..why would anyone, child or adult be unhappy in Disney. Never understood it. It is one of the happiest places on earth, IMHO.

Susan:

A few years ago I bought a ceramic coffee mug for John at the "Villains" shop in MGM Studios, and it has Si and Am on it, in addition to the other Disney villains. We bought Mushu the Disney catnip toy, on one side it says Bad Kitty with a picture of Si and Am, and the other side has that black and white cat (Figaro?), from Pinocchio. lol We also bought Mushu the match Disney Cats food dish and water dish. Ok, I guess it's official, we're Disney nerds. LOL BUT I do have to say, those cat dishes are the ONLY Disney items in my entire house, except for my desk area here in the family room. :teeth:

A no kids weekend would *NEVER* happen at any Disney theme park or area. It was Walt's vision to build an area where both adults *AND* children could play together. No flames, just a reminder of what Disney is all about.

I think that should include teenagers too. They're even worse than the small children most of the time. 21+ at WDW!

Disney wouldn't do it because they'd lose out on money...but it would be great.

What a fabulous idea!!! I love it! All the grumpy people go on one weekend and the rest of us can have a better time while we're there with our families. :rotfl2:

Yes, I love to watch the interaction too when I'm solo. One thing I love to do when I'm solo is help "packrat Mommy" by holding something on the bus, or talking to children in a long line (it helps make the time go by for them, they love to answer questions about what they've done). It takes only a few minutes for me, it's a fun diversion, so as I think about it, even though I always go without kids, not having kids around would be boring for me.

Aw, gee....someone has to speak up for the kids! If there were any other group of people that someone were to suggest eliminating from a weekend at Disney, the flame throwers would be burning in full force! Insert any other group of people were it says "kids" (gays, whites, blacks, women, men, muslims, christians, etc. etc. etc.), and oh, my! ...wouldn't there be an uproar!! I say lets not have special weekends for anyone, and lets not have weekends that segregate us. Let's just all go to Disney whenever we can, and be with other people who love it. Why leave out the kids??

I totally agree with you. Now I know this post was done all in fun (no one thinks disney is ever going to keep kids out), and I can understand some people thinking a no kids weekend would be nice. However, if someone had posted lets have a weekend when only people with kids can go boy would they get flamed. I personally could not imagine Disney without kids.

Ah but we wouldn't be grumpy if we weren't getting run over by strollers, knocked into by teenagers and made deaf by screaming kids.

I have to admit though I love seeing the kids on the bus. I know that sounds silly but in the morning they are so excited and fun to talk to about what they are going to do and then in the evening they're so sleepy and precious and more often than not they've gone on rides I wouldn't touch for anything. I love telling them I'm too scared to do that :)

AMEN, QUINN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SusanWasHere - I have to say you too sound like a wise soul to me as well. Let us indeed start up a new friendship and be BFFAEAEAE's for the next 25 years! ROFLMBOOOOOOOO :rotfl:

Wow! Am I the only one who wants to travel on vacation with their kid? DH & I, would not even think about going on an "Adult" vacation while our kids are young. I just could never imagine going to some place like Disney World without my DS. When we go on vacation, we go as a FAMILY & we enjoy every second. There is no yelling, no fighting, no worrying about our DS falling asleep in the stroller. Who cares if he sleeps through a show, I am not losing money because my son needs a nap. He is on vacation to.

If you all dislike kids so much, how about going somewhere that kids are not allowed all the time? There are plenty of adult only destinations. Why complain about kids in a family theme park? :confused3

I understand people without kids love Disney to. Heck, DH & I went multiple times before we had a child & we loved every second of it then. But we never complained or cared about children there. We would just smile at them. Heck, we were at Disney World. Why do I care if someone else's kid is having a tantrum? It does not affect or ruin my vacation one bit. And if my DS has a tantrum, and you let it bother you, then you are just wasting way to much time, caring about my DS.

It's not wasting time caring about another kid's tantrum, it's the time I have to waste listening to another kid's tantrum! I'm not saying I don't like kids (though I'm not saying I like them either :lmao: ), I have a 6 year old myself! But you can't deny there is a LOT less to deal with on a vaca whenever it's not filled with kids having meltdowns by 6 pm.
