How 1 trip turned to 2 and now turning into 3!! Update Pg 40 Days 3, 4 and 5!!

Heading over to look, thank you so much!

You're very welcome!! It's a great thread. The hardest part is that every person who calls gets a different answer so there's not much consistancy. Hopefully all turns out well...

Today I'm leaning towards getting the cupcake sized cakes for everyone...then I can get everyone the flavor they like and maybe be a little more special. I don't know...

I've already called twice this morning to try and get a character meal for our trip. Right now the only one is Tusker House....I'm hoping for Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's.

Today's the fire department's "Truck Pull"-a team of guys (8 I think) pull a fire truck. Should be interesting. Carter's already down for a nap and Corbin just came in from playing so maybe we'll head over there and see what's going on about 1 when it starts.

Today's also "Disney Day". I'm trying to get as much as I can figured out so I know what to pack and where we're going. I've laid down the law and made it clear that if it's not on the list, we're not trying to squeeze more into an already too-short trip.

Once I get the plan figured out, I'll be sure to post it here for you to review :)

Unpacked the suitcase this morning from our Hanna scare so I can start re-packing for Disney. Hanna's passed with really not too much for us-a bit of rain and wind but nothing terrible. Ike's making his way this way but won't come near us thankfully so I'm not too worried unless something really changes.

Picked up some up cute light up fans at the dollar store (in case they get lost, broken, don't work, whatever it's not a big loss) so I need to pack those too.

I'll take pictures this afternoon and post for y'all...it's been awhile since pictures. :goodvibes I've got to get ones from our MI trip up for our family...I've been a slacker!

Have a great afternoon!

Ok...should have started this long ago...but now I know for the next trip! :goodvibes

Still TO DO for Disney:
*Pre-order our photopass cd for the trip
*Gather everything for Dec baskets (probably won't be done before our trip but needs to be done shortly after...)
*Make shopping list (take Christmas shopping list)
*Update ME info on our ressie - right now it's got all of us listed and the wrong times! (need to update times again! darn flight changes!!)
*Update my Disney Bible and get more page protectors
*Keep calling to get better ADR times
*Pick up DVDs DONE from our MI trip!
*Start shopping list of things to pick up now and day before we leave
*Call to confirm ADRS, cake order, room ressie
*Call about having balloons in room - can only call 7 days in advance
*Get any info from DMIL that she needs - make list for her of where/when we're staying
*Clean out van
*Pack van activity bag DONE from MI trip-just needs to be double checked
*Pack "pixie dust" secret bag in Mommy's suitcase (working on this yet this afternoon)
*Make "pixie dust" candy bars (Thanks Telynn!!!) (so far behind on these...still have to get the candy bars and make the wrappers!)
*Work on touring plans
*Fill in blanks of spreadsheet
*Save money for gas, souvoniers, meals, presents, pictures, ect.
*Research Disney outlets and keep addresses and directions
*Send "big give" box out when we're back from MI
*Keep updating PTR
*Get supplies for camera - extra battery, camera bag, bigger memory card
*Schedule photo shoot at resort (need to pick resort, date and time!)
*Catch up on DISigns...I've been busy and haven't been able to work on these much and I feel terrible!
*Make labels to put on quarter/pressed penny tubes
*Go to back and get shiny pennies to squish (and quarters too!!)
*Find Tink gifts (thanks Jill!!!) for Grandma and Daddy...I've got the boys covered. I'm going to scout some things out this weekend but I'm also planning on picking up Disney dollars our first night or full day there to leave for them as well since they appreciate money :)

Ok...the pictures are still uploading to Shutterfly so I can email them to family/friends, but here are some for you guys! :goodvibes

This is Carter enjoying the food at our cookout at Grandma's house on our second night (first full day) there
dsc_0004.jpg

Here are the boys (my two, cousin Lance (Dan's nephew, missing front teeth) and Austin (who will be-hopefully-making his first trip to the World with us (our trip #3!!!). Carter has a huge red mark on his forehead. He was outside with his brother and cousin and "something" happened to him...Grandma and I were inside trying to get ready and Daddy had went to get mommy some adult beverages! It didn't much spoil Carter's mood as you can see in these pictures-he loves the camera (most of the time) and loves to say "cheese!".

***Side note - Amy (Austin's mom) and I used to work together. Their old house (they just sold it after we moved) is four or five doors down from Dan's mom. Amy's hudband Chris is a firefighter as well. Amy and Dan (my DH) used to go to daycare together. And, to top it all off, Austin's a month older almost to the day, than Corbin. We worked in two different buildings and wouldn't have ever gotten in touch if we weren't asked to co-chair a committee together at work. We quickly became great friends. Amy and Chris were helping us pack the UHaul the weekend of Amy's sister's baby shower instead of working on that. They're the kind of people who tell you like it is but would do anything for you. They're so much fun and we can't wait to go to Disney with them!!

Grandma and Aunt Connie made Corbin a very special Jeff the Alligator Birthday Cake (and everyone made a ton of great food-the entire kitchen table was covered!!):

The "Big Boys" didn't need any help
dsc_0073.jpg

Once everyone started heading home, we hit the hot tub! (this was before the boys stripped down to their undies to "swim")
dsc_0082-1.jpg

Corbin made a friend at Grandma's. He was insistant if we just let him in for a minute he'd leave when we asked him to. Grandma wasn't thinking that was a good idea as she's had a problem with squirrels getting into her basement
dsc_0085.jpg

dsc_0091-1.jpg

The boys had a good time at the new children's museum. They had lots of fun with the water table. Corbin had no clue about the milking the cow. Mommy grew up with "nature" (we lived next to a cow farm and family had a dairy farm so nothing new for me there).

After the museum, we hit the baseball game. This is the night Carter started to get his fever and ended up sleeping through dinner. He and George just hung out on the blanket. Carter did perk up when he saw BIRDS!! (Fishes and birds can distract that boys from anything!!!)

Ok...Dan's at the fire department truck pull and Corbin just woke up from nap so I've had lots of time to get stuff done and organized.

Here are the boy's shirts and supplies for MNSSHP.

dsc_0001.jpg

Here's what I had left over from Corbin's party that I'm taking to decorate our room. The only thing I bought was some more happy birthday streamers and the happy birthday stand up thing for the table. Hopefully there will be enough room in our room with everyone for the funness.

dsc_0002-1.jpg

Here are the fans I got at the dollar store. There are also little flashlights too that you push the button and they light up. Thought they may come in handy...you never know.

dsc_0003.jpg

Here are Corbin's "Tink Treats" to be split up between this and December's trip

dsc_0004-1.jpg

Here are Carter's "Tink Treats' again to be split up between the two trips

dsc_0005.jpg

Candy treats-Corbin's is on the left and Carter's is on the right...they're identical except Corbin has a Dash pez dispenser and Carter has a Mickey one.

dsc_0006.jpg

Hopefully once Dan gets home I can get out for a few minutes or at least make a list of some things I can look for this week to pick up for Daddy and Grandma "Tink Treats". Can't be blowing my cover by not getting everyone something...:thumbsup2

Alright...now that both of them are up my productive time is over. Back to Mommy, referee, best friend, cook, maid....

Don't forget to "Tink" yourself or you really will blow your cover!

Thanks! I thought about that too...I'm always up for some Disney dollars! :rotfl: I'm going to go this week on my lunch and look for some fun grown up tink treats.

I told Dan today that I'm going to have to forget a couple of things in the room and I'll need him to take the boys. He's thinking it's my stomach issues (everything I eat these days makes me very sick) so he's totally understanding about that.

Ok here's what I've worked on over night. Let me know what you think. I still have to send these plans to DMIL. According to DH, the only things she wants to do are EPCOT and DTD. I can work those in! :thumbsup2

9/17 Arrival Day!!   DH and I are working in the morning. Everything will be packed (probably next weekend) and loaded into the van the night before. We're leaving work at 1 that day and coming home to get the boys to go to DISNEY! :yay:

The plan right now, once we're on the road, is for the boys to nap on the way. This shouldn't be too much to ask of them. I want to be at Disney by 7 to go someplace for dinner. If the boys can't wait that long, we'll stop somewhere along the way.

Once we check in and eat, we'll try and hit the monorail to go around the loop. Since we've got APs, if we feel like stopping into a park we will, but most will be closing down. Maybe we'll catch Wishes or something like that if we're lucky.

Grandma also arrives tonight! :cool1: As of right now, the flight arrives in Orlando at 10:15. Hopefully it'll get moved up a little bit. We're going to let the boys go to sleep and she'll surprise them in the morning. We've got to get back to the room and get the boys good and asleep before she gets there.

I also want to decorate the Birthday Room once the boys are asleep. Corbin will be excited by the decorations alone when he wakes up. I can't wait to see what happens when he rolls over and realizes that it's Grandma instead of Mommy sleeping with him! (Hopefully he's not terrified by this! He should be fine.)

9/18 We're going to have breakfast in the hotel (Thanks Hanna for the extra snacks!! :thumbsup2 ). After breakfast, we're going to head to the MK for the morning EMHs. Once things start to get busy about 10 or so, we're going to catch the monorail to EPCOT (per Grandma's request). I want to ride Soarin' and she wants to ride Test Track. If the wait's too long, we'll get fast passes to stop back by later. If the boys get a bit too fussy, we'll send one or two adults to EPCOT to get fast passes for later while someone takes the boys to the hotel to sleep before lunch then head to WPCOT after lunch.

We're having lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe today-complete with a Cars brithday cake for Dan and Corbin and a mini castle cake for Grandma! :cake:

After lunch, we're going to head back to the hotel for a little bit to rest-hoping to be back at the hotel around 3 and rest until about 5 if they'll rest. (unless we alread rested)

We're planning on heading to DHS after resting to meet McQueen and Mater. We don't have dinner plans tonight so we'll do counter service somewhere along the lines.

At some point today our baskets will be delivered. I moved it to today so it would be a surprise and everything would be in tact for everyone to see. This should be a huge surprise coming back to rest or in for the evening!

9/19 BIG DAY! Today's a big, busy day for us. We've got 8:00 ressies at Tusker House to dine with Donald, Daisy, Mickey and Goofy (I hope!!). After breakfast, we're going to head out into AK and do the safari ride and Kali River Rapids (this one's iffy-it'll depend on the weather and if we all want to ride). Once we've been through everything at AK, we're going to head to the hotel and rest. Lunch will be counter service on the way out of the park or back at All Star Sports.

Corbin's got a BBB appointment (he's thrilled about going into the castle!!) at 3:30 to get a "Cool Dude". I'll be taking him to this while Dan and Carter either keep resting or hang out in the MK. Not sure what DMIL will want to do...We may all end up at the castle-who knows. :confused3

After our BBB appointment, we're heading to Tony's Town Square for dinner at 4:30. After dinner, off to MNSSHP! :mickeyjum I cannot wait for this party! The boys will be donning their pirate garb.pirate: I've still got to come up with something for Mommy and Daddy to wear. It won't be hard to find Daddy something pirate-ish to wear. pirate: Depending on how long the boys can stand it, we'll stay as long as we can. Dan and I have already talked and I want to stay the entire party if I can keep myself up that long. I'm not so concerned about the rides, I want to get some awesome pictures of the MK decorated and without a bunch of people in my way. :thumbsup2 (This would also be my reasoning for going for the morning EMH).

9/20 Depending on how late a night the party is will determine what we're doing this morning. If the boys (and adults) are ready to get up and go (which I'm kind of doubting the adults will be!), we'll hit DHS with morning EMHs. We don't have breakfast ressies this morning, so we'll just do something in the room (pop tarts, cereal, whatever). I'm also wanting to schedule a photo shoot at one of the resorts for around lunch time if I can get it together.

We don't have lunch plans today either so we'll either do counter service or something off site. (Dan wants to go to Cheeseburger in Paradise so we'll see what happens...I don't want to loose any Disney magic)

Our next big plans for the day are heading to EPCOT in time for the Disney Visa Meet N Greet. This is important since we're not doing many character meals or anything. That starts at 1:30 and since we're (hopefully) having a slow morning, this shouldn't be a problem. My boys pretty much stay on their schedule but go, go, go. Corbin's really trying to skip the nap thing and Carter's great about sleeping in his stroller for a few minutes and being good as new!

After we're done checking out the characters, we'll see what time allows. We'll hit some rides before dinner at Coral Reef. (If it's a slow morning or someone wants to head out, we'll collect some fast passes in the morning) We cannot be late for this as this is the "official" birthday meal of the trip. I've arranged personalized menus for Dan, Corbin, Carter and Grandma as well as a birthday sign to be held by the diver for Dan and Corbin. I cannot wait to see their faces!! Dan doesn't know anything about the menus. :ssst: He knows about Corbin's sign and asked if I did it for him and told him you could only get one. :thumbsup2 When we're done eating, we'll get our Nemo cake! :cake: (yup I decided to change the theme and keep the other cake...just seemed easier that way)

After dinner and more :cake:, we'll head back out into EPCOT to do anything we missed on our way out. If I can get it to work out, we'll hop the monorail to a photoshoot (since everyone should be happy and full bellies-unless I can get it earlier in the day) then over to DTD for awhile. If Dan and the boys don't want to go, DMIL and I will shop on our own! :yay:

Written all out like this is seems like a lot of things to get done. We'll only do what we can and really, really want to.

I'm finally unpacking this morning from Hanna's scare and Disney packing's beginning since it's already all out. This afternoon we're going to a friend's house for a pool date which the boys are very much looking forward to!:beach:

Coming up soon....Dec's plans.

Your plan looks great! Lots of flexibility.... so, if needed, you can adapt it very easily.
Glad Hanna wasn't a problem for you!

Hey lmillercrew...they would be like cupcake sized "cakes"...I guess that's why I'm leaning towards those. I don't know. I think 8" cake will be too much too...I don't know! :confused3

Here's the info on where to order the cakes-all of the phone numbers and such are on the first page. There are TONS of pictures and people's experiences about ordering and getting (or not in some cases) the cakes they ordered: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1859670&page=65

Oh O.K., I could totally eat a cupcake! Then I would go for one each, um... maybe two:laughing: Just kidding.

Oh O.K., I could totally eat a cupcake! Then I would go for one each, um... maybe two:laughing: Just kidding.

:rotfl2: No kidding...my luck, they'd eat the whole darn cake! I'm going to go with the cake for now...I'm sure it'll change again in the mornin! :rotfl:

I'm starting to stress a bit too much about our trip...lots of weird things have happened and I'm trying to hard to have an extra magical trip for DMIL. I hope it all goes well. I'm in need of a good vacation...can we go early??:rolleyes1

Your plans look fantastic newtodis! Your boys will love MNSSHP. My DS14 bought those swords at a dollar store in Ft Wayne this summer while he was at a basketball tournament. He is so goofy! Carter is such a doll in those pictures where he's laughing his head off. Looks like they had a lot of fun in MI. I hope you start feeling better and that there isn't something wrong with your stomach. I'm looking forward to reading all about Dec

Thanks so much!! Corbin's starting to talk about Halloween as the kids on the street have started talking about it. He doesn't remember a whole lot but he's getting excited.

That's so funny...the swords must be a boy thing! :goodvibes

Yeah Carter's loving his picture being taken right now...what a ham!!

Ok..tonight...December's plans and my Halloween shirt for me and DMIL and Carter's new shoes. I've got to exchange them today for a bigger size.

Sorry no December plans yet...I'm going to keep working on them on my lunch today to try and get the ressies all down.

Dan stopped at my fire station yesterday (I work at headquarters and he works at another) and I mentioned something. He asked what I was up to and when he could read my PTR...I told him once all three trips are done! :rotfl: He slipped and said that was fine-I didn't know everything that was going on....he's got something up his sleeve for December and apparently it's noted on our room ressies but they're not supposed to tell me about it. I rilied him up a little bit and told him I'd went over everything on the reservation with them and changed some things around just to fluster him. :rotfl: I'm terrible I know. So I guess something's in the works for me...I'll have to wait with the rest of you to find out what it is....I'm hoping for one of the safarais since we're staying club level at AKL in Dec...that would be fun.

I got Carter a "leash" this weekend at Target...I've become one of "those parents" now. I guess I just feel that he needs to be out and walking a bit instead of cooped up in a stroller the entire time we're there. With his harness, he'll stay close and feel more like big brother who can get out and walk.

I'm exchanging Carter's shoes on my lunch. I think he needs a bigger size. Gotta love Target...I found him slip on McQueen shoes almost exactly like Corbin's, which Carter loves to put on and wear around the house. He was so excited when I brought them home on Sunday he wore them for an hour or so. He wouldn't let me cut the string or take the tags off-good thing now I guess.

Other than that, I think we're set on getting stuff....expect for a Halloween shirt for Dan. I'm going to look again at Target while I'm there today. I'm also going to try and make it to the Hallmark store on my lunch and pick up a couple cute little Disney things for DMIL's Tink Treats.

I need to go over the "to do" list again...I was thinking this weekend was last weekend and I still had another weekend to get ready for Disney. :scared1: This weekend, Dan's got class both days, the auxiliary (of which I'm a member) for the fire department is having a picnic for the department to celebrate promotions and the 30th anniversary. I've got to get a scrapbook done this week of a bunch of old pictures to display yet...:scared1: Then, I need to pack, pack, pack. Thursday night's out as we have an auxiliary meeting to make sure we're good on the picnic.

Also, while I'm at Disney, I need to pick up a birthday gift for Angie, who's going with us in December. Her birthday's the day after we come back. Then, Friday after we come back, I'm having a jewelry party at our house and a surprise party on Saturday for a friend.

I need to make a list of the things that I need to get while I'm in Disney. We'll have to get something for our nephew for DMIL to take back to him.

I also need to finalize my "Fairy Godmailer" and "Pay It Forward" lists of postcards to send to fellow DIS'ers children. I need to be sure that all of their addresses get to Mickey so he can have their postcards sent out before they arrive. :thumbsup2

Alright...back to work for now I guess...it's a little slow today which is good but I've got too much at home that I need to do! :rolleyes1

Ok...went to Target tonight to try and exchange Carter's shoes...so did not work out. I don't know if there was a run on toddler shoes in the last two days or what but when I went back tonight, there was a size 6 and a size 11. I needed a size 7 for Carter...so I went back to the customer service desk to beg for my shoes back. They won't last as long as I'd like them to, but they'll work for this trip.

I also called Disney praying we would be able to get a character meal for our September trip. The dining gods were smiling down as I was able to get Hollywood and Vine for breakfast Saturday morning at 8:00 Not the ideal location by any means and not the best time as DHS has extra magic hours that morning, but don't much have an option as I want to make sure we see some charcters.

I was also able to get in Boatright's Dining Hall Sunday morning at 7:30 to have breakfast as a family before DMIL needs to catch ME to fly back to MI. I may try and change this somewhere else, but wanted to do something nice before she flew back home. We aren't planning on going up there again until Christmas...not that long, but when we lived in MI she was no more than 5 minutes from our house and visiting all the time so this is hard for the adults as well as the boys.

On the home front, our crazy real estate lady sent us another house she thought we would be interested in. 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths in just over 2100 square feet for $176,600. Sounds like a crazy amount of money, but the house we're renting right now, the landlady is asking $239,000 for our 3 bedrooms and 2 baths in 1700 square feet. The amenities center at the new house is WAY better than just the pool we have here...so we're supposed to go look at it tomorrow night. If we like it, we need to jump on it as our loan qualification expires at the end of the month. The "down side" to this house we're going to look at is that it's closer to Savannah than our jobs so it'll be more like 15-20 minutes to work instead of the 5-10 it takes now. It would be the same for grocery shopping and the like. I could over look this if the house is wonderful. It's an "extra deep" lot (I need to see this for myself to see what this is) that backs up to a pond so we wouldn't have anyone behind us.

If we don't take this house, we've decided to build one over the winter to be ready when our lease is up. We would build a 4 bedroom at least 2 bathroom house in a subdivision (they're called plantations here) where our friends live. So now we've got another decision to make....I'll keep you posted! :goodvibes

Ok I know I promised Dec plans tonight...I didn't get any sleep last night as I made a scrapbook for one of our captains to give to his wife for her birthday-it's a surprise to tell her at her party next week that they're going to Vegas on Thursday. :woohoo: So needless to say, I was a little nervous about what he would think of it and I spent a lot of time tossing and turning about it. (He happend to love it this morning-I made him a page about everything they're going to do on their trip. They're going to have a wonderful time!) So I'm off to bed as I'm falling asleep.

That sounds like an amazing deal here!! It's funny how different home prices are!! We sold our 2 bedroom 2 bathroom 1000 sq ft. condo (suburb of Chicago) for $198,000.

Good Luck!! Building a home would be so cool!

-nat

Good luck on the home search. You know we wouldn't get that big of a home here in Toledo for that price. People here move to MI to save on their taxes. I hope it all works out for you. Too bad about the shoes.
We used a leash on our DD9 when she was turning 5. It was her first trip and I, like you, wanted her to be able to walk around without her getting lost in the shops. Can't believe you are so close to another trip! So jealous:sad1:

Yeah it's a good deal...just far out right now from everything. The area's developing quite quickly but you never know what will be nearby :confused3 Still waiting to hear about looking at it tonight.

Thanks for the info on the houses-it's crazy how different the market is in different places-we sold our 3 bedroom, 1 bath home in MI for about $80,000 after moving down here...

Yeah...the shoes...I should have went back to Target sooner but I just got busy.

Glad to hear someone else uses these. I'm sure I'm not the only one but I'm not up for nasty looks...Disney's magical-let's keep it that way folks.

Yeah it's starting to sink in now that it's getting close. I've got so much to get done. I have to take a lunch today to try and get ready. (I missed lunch yesterday-it got way too busy and I probably won't get lunch tomorrow with the accountant coming in for an audit:scared1: )

Hey all...last three days have been CRAZY at work. I haven't had time to even run out for lunch! Hopefully we'll go home early tomorrow and I'll be able to get something done. Today was very weird being my first 9/11 working in a fire house. First, I was amazed by the number of community members and business owners who brought things into the department to say thank you. It shouldn't take a tragedy for people to show appreciation but unfortunetly that's what sparked today's outpouring. Secondly, it's a great lesson in how different people deal with things in very different ways. Even tonight while I was there for an auxiliary meeting, some of the guys were wrapped up in documentaries about the day while others couldn't be in the same room with it. I love my firefighters every day of the year. I think having my husband in the profession, I go out of my way to show support and appreciation to people any time, but that's just me.

On the home front, the "house" that our real estate agent is trying to sell us isn't even built yet! :rotfl: They would start construction mid to late October so it would be ready when our lease is up in February. I'm leaving it up to Dan to decide what we're doing at this point...I'm kind of done with house hunting for the time being. :rolleyes1

On the Disney front, I cannot wait to go. I haven't made much progress on the "to do" list as work's been really busy.

I did find some medicine at Wal-Mart that I take once in the morning now and haven't gotten sick for three days in a row!! :cool1: (I'm probably jynxing myself right now but I'm VERY excited about this!)

Tomorrow after work, I plan on calling ASSp about some balloons in the room when we get there for check in.

Dan talked to his mom and she's getting very excited for the trip so that's good.

I managed to get a couple more dining reservations-Hollywood and Vine for breakfast on Saturday morning (8:00). Not sure if I'll keep this or not with the Halloween party the night before and morning EMH that morning at DHS.

The second ADR I got was Sunday morning 7:30 at Boatright's to eat breakfast together before DMIL leaves. That would be our 5th out of 5 TS meal. I think we're going to pay OOP for that and try to get another sit down meal (I'm still holding out for CMs).

I haven't decided about the photopass photo session...I'm thinking I'm just going to try and get a couple of nice photopass photos and going from there.

I just feel like I've got so much to do...Dan's trying to talk me into taking all of Wednesday off and driving down Tuesday night...normally I'd be all over that but just feel like I've got too much to do to be able to pull that off too.

I also want to just tell him EVERYTHING...it's getting very hard to keep all the surprises surprises. We got a post card from Mickey today. Dan's still racking his brain trying to figure out how Mickey got our address :rolleyes1

With Dan at class this weekend, it'll be easier to get things done and out of the way. I've got most of my Disney stuff done, it's just the "other" stuff that I've got to have done before we can go to Disney.

Alright...I need to try and get some sleep yet tonight. Corbin's been up by 5:30 all week long and I'm whipped! :scared:

Here's hoping we'll all get sent home early tomorrow so I can get my stuff done!
