just back from a stay at Vero Beach today! we stayed on points thurs., on cash (rack rates no less!) fri & sat, and on points sun night. how much housekeeping should we have received?? and when?? thanks in advance!!

here goes, upon checkin thurs eve AFTER informing cast member that i was paying rack rate cash for middle 2 nights, i was told that i would get trash & towel on monday.(my CHECKOUT day!) Fri.(AM) i called mousekeeping and after a very lengthy disscussion i was told i would get full service fri/sat. fri came and went with NO service. Sat AM i called mousekeeping and was reassured that i was on their list. Sun after again calling to make sure we were on their list, we got trash and towel only. On Monday upon checkout after going back and forth with a friendly cast member who several times disappeared to get "clarification" removed the equivalent of 1 housekeeping charge ($35). Although i guess i was made 'whole', i would have much preferred NOT spending a total of 1 1/2 hours on mousekeeping! As i clearly stated to each CM i talked with, i felt like i was being penalized for being a DVC member! I was told on several occassions that i was booked on Disney dollars (or some inside DVC transaction) so therefore i wasn't entitled to mousekeeping. when i showed the CM the published tarriff sheet at the front desk and told her that is what i was paying she had the same answer even after leaving to get clarification! i got the $35 back because i was dissatisfied - not because i was right. she then proceeded to give me stationary to write out a letter of complaint.

Hopefully, the rest of your trip was great and this was just an annoyance. If you are using a DVC member discount, you get the same housekeeping as staying on points. However, you were paying the full rack rate, so I assume the reservation was not made through MS. Now, let's see what you should have received.

Thursday night on points -- Friday morning no HK
Friday paid cash -- Should have full HK on Sat. morning
Sat paid cash -- Maybe full HK on Sun. morning
Sun. night points -- No HK on Monday -- check-out

Looking at this, I begin to see where some confusion could set in. Technically, every time you switch from points to cash it's as if you are a new person checking in. The arguement could be made that the room should be made up fresh for the "new" check-in. This would mean a full housekeeping on Friday morning and Sunday morning. However, if you were paying cash for two nights and leaving the resort you would only benefit from one housekeeping, the one on Saturday. A new person would get a clean room on Sunday.

It would be more straightforward if your point stay days were together. If you had been staying purely on points, you would get Trash & Towel on Sunday (Day 4). With two individual days staying on points you would receive no housekeeping.

Did you book your stay though MS? I was told that if you book though MS and were paying cash full or discounted members would not receive housekeeping.

And probably the reservations were linked. If you would have had to check out and back in on Friday - you'd have gotten housekeeping, then you'd have had to check out on Sunday and back in on Sunday with points.

i did book thru member services. even had i received a 10-25% discount wouldn't i have been entitled to mousekeeping?? (if i booked ANY disney resort with any discount code found either on these boards or through a travel agent wouldn't i receive mousecleaning??) if the answer to any of these questions is yes then why am i (or do i feel) penalized for being a DVC member??

When you book thru MS you only get trash and towel, no matter what the cost of the room is to you. However, if you had gone thru W Disney number or the number for annual passports, then you get full service. I don't know why it's different, but it is. When I stayed at BWV at Christmas, I ued my discount as an annual passport member because MS gave me the same rate but told me that I would have no housekeeping. I decided that if I am paying money, I should get housekeeping, so I cancelled my room on cash discount, and rebooked it for the same amount of money thru the number for annual passport members. Isn't that stupid? You can chalk this up to exerience, nd next time find out what all the fine print is. I hate that we have to play games to get what is rightfully our's as a guest, but that's the way it is.:(

If you book with a member discount you get the same service as staying on points. That's been the policy for quite a few years.

I didn't know MS would book a cash reservation that wasn't a member discount. In any case, that's where you problem came in. Based on going through MS, the policy is actually what they told you at the desk....1 trash & towel. (The day should have been Sunday not Monday.) So, your pursuing the issue did get you 1 cleaning and 1 reimbursement. Now, you'll know for the future.

FYI -- the same applies at all DVC's not just Vero.

I'm running short on points, so for next May I'm thinking of booking OKW with points for Sunday to Thursday nights and hopefully getting an AP or code discount through CRO for the first night, Saturday, and linking the reservations to stay in the same room. If I do this, would I get full housekeeping on Sunday, since I would be checking out of the AP rate and checking in with DVC? Then trash & towel Wednesday?

 WOW! we've been members since 1994 and have always stayed on points. I, recently found these boards and got the "great idea' to better manage my points so this time i booked VB as above to save 106 points for a cost of $600. Even rack rates made sense here! I never thought to ask about mousekeeping. I just assumed (silly stupid me) we would get service. Originally i did book thru central res. but they wanted 1 night deposit on my credit card. member services didn't want anything so i used them. Fortunately, the rest of my stay was great! I was especially impressed with the staff when faced with rain more often than not, was able to provide activities to keep our family entertained! A CM named Linda did a great job with my 8 year old daughter who thought that their extended beading session was a highlight of her stay. They were constantly offering new activities to people who were just hanging out in the main lodge during the "rain delays". On the other hand i noticed that they got rid of ping pong, and some of the stuff in the kids pirate area of the pool, as well as the concierge CM. Now you have to wait in line at the check in counter for those services.

Disney needs to take notice and watch their step here. Although i don't own any, their stock has fallen close to 50% from where it was, and evidenced by their compessing park hours by stopping early entry, they have taken notice and are trying to protect the bottom line. We, as DVC members return time and time again spending money in parks, shops and restaurants (as well as buying more points!) AS such, we are an important (growing) component of THAT bottom line and should be treated as such! They should stop "mickey mousing around" and give mousekeeping to those that pay cash whether thru MS or central booking. They should bend over backwards "within reason of course" to try and keep us happy.

Last point, on another subject, as far as poolhopping to SAB, i understand why they are concerned. I think they went too far. More reasonable would be to restrict it when conditions warrant it. Many times we have hopped to SAB when the deck was fairly empty. I can't imagine that the addition of the BCV would crowd SAB at those times. In the past we have always allotted a day to SAB ( along with spending $ @ the BC ice cream shop (kid's fav), concessions and restaurants. Those dollars may be spent other places @ Disney but, then again they may not!!

Sorry this is soo long that's all folks!! Thanks for listening!:D
