WOW! we've been members since 1994 and have always stayed on points. I, recently found these boards and got the "great idea' to better manage my points so this time i booked VB as above to save 106 points for a cost of $600. Even rack rates made sense here! I never thought to ask about mousekeeping. I just assumed (silly stupid me) we would get service. Originally i did book thru central res. but they wanted 1 night deposit on my credit card. member services didn't want anything so i used them. Fortunately, the rest of my stay was great! I was especially impressed with the staff when faced with rain more often than not, was able to provide activities to keep our family entertained! A CM named Linda did a great job with my 8 year old daughter who thought that their extended beading session was a highlight of her stay. They were constantly offering new activities to people who were just hanging out in the main lodge during the "rain delays". On the other hand i noticed that they got rid of ping pong, and some of the stuff in the kids pirate area of the pool, as well as the concierge CM. Now you have to wait in line at the check in counter for those services.
Disney needs to take notice and watch their step here. Although i don't own any, their stock has fallen close to 50% from where it was, and evidenced by their compessing park hours by stopping early entry, they have taken notice and are trying to protect the bottom line. We, as
DVC members return time and time again spending money in parks, shops and restaurants (as well as buying more points!) AS such, we are an important (growing) component of THAT bottom line and should be treated as such! They should stop "mickey mousing around" and give mousekeeping to those that pay cash whether thru MS or central booking. They should bend over backwards "within reason of course" to try and keep us happy.
Last point, on another subject, as far as poolhopping to SAB, i understand why they are concerned. I think they went too far. More reasonable would be to restrict it when conditions warrant it. Many times we have hopped to SAB when the deck was fairly empty. I can't imagine that the addition of the BCV would crowd SAB at those times. In the past we have always allotted a day to SAB ( along with spending $ @ the BC ice cream shop (kid's fav), concessions and restaurants. Those dollars may be spent other places @ Disney but, then again they may not!!
Sorry this is soo long that's all folks!! Thanks for listening!
