We are going to have housekeeping every other day while staying at OKW 2 br. villa.

What can we expect from housekeeping and should we tip since we are already paying extra for this service? I think we should but wanted to know.

Thanks, April

I usually tip on the T&T day,

but with having housekeeping every other day, you'll be in the height of luxury.

I would tip something... just not sure how much.

I do know tipping at the beginning, and then periodically throughout, instead of waiting til the end has gotten us better service / extra towels.

Have a wonderful trip!

Thank you Lucy! I am so excited, this is our first trip as DVC owners. It will be so magical that I am about to crawl out of my skin in anticipation.

I will tip well the first day and hopefully the kids will see towel animals.

April,

I know how much you've waited for this trip.

Hope it is magical, and pictures / report when you get back. Are you getting help with Hunter? A 2BR will be so nice - tons of room.

Best to you and your family,

Hugs, Goldi

For your first trip, I'm going to suggest that you at least TRY the standard DVC housekeeping schedule. We too were skeptical about not having housekeeping on our first trip, but once we saw the size of the room, and the laundry room, etc, we felt a "ownership" feeling, and deicded we really enjoyed not having housekeeping "sneaking into our home". We have come to feel like housekeeping is an intruder. I make my bed at home the minute we get out of it. I do the same on vacation. In fact, on trash and towel day, we often pile the towels that need to be changed and the trash together, so they can get out of there quickly. It's so nice to be able to come back to the villa at any time and know that you don't have to worry about wether or not housekeeping had been there yet. It just feels so much like your home...

We also feel the same as Diane......I also make our bed first thing and we do the very same thing with towels and trash on T/T day. I just leave the towels near the door and we usually don't even have any trash (maybe the little basket in the bathroom will have a few tissues) since we take our kitchen bag and deposit it in the trash room on our way out every morning. I'd really rather not have housekeeping in at all. However, on the note of housekeeping......we just got back from OKW (Building 39) on Thursday night after our first stay there.......I really wasn't impressed with the quality of housekeeping. Everything was passable, but, that's about it. Kitchen and bath floors were ok, but, did find hair in shower corners and tub. I always clean the tub very well by running bleach through the jets before allowing my grandson to have a whirlpool bath and the junk that came through was really disgusting. I just really feel that OKW really needs some better maintenance .......it did seem several buildings were getting some work done because we saw quite a few plumbing and contractors trucks around and a lot of workmen in and out of the buildings. Our carpeting also had several big pulls and runs in the living room and there were several stains on the couch and loveseat. The baseboards through the entire place (1 bedroom) looked like they hadn't been touched for quite sometime. Almost like a sticky dusty look to them. We didn't even use the balcony because it definitely hadn't been cleaned in a long, long time. All four chairs were very dirty and there were a lot of dried leaves, twigs, etc. all over the floor. When we stayed at VWL in January we had none of the above issues and also none at SSR last October. I just can't help but feel OKW is really starting to show age and DVC needs to kick up their maintenance/housekeeping practices to a better standard before it gets too bad.

ITA!

When first becoming memebers I was skeptical too but gave the system a try (especially after encouragement from a dear friend who is an original OKW owner). It really is better, IMO.
