We will be at SSR in December. It's our daughter's first trip and we are taking both sets of grandparents. We were planning to add daily housekeeping to our trip but I looked it up and it's $60/Day. I know we will be on vacation and shouldn't "worry" about the money but at $60/day, it will quickly add up. Does anyone have any comments for or against getting the daily housekeeping? We will be there from Sat-Sat. Thanks!princess: princess: princess:

I'm a believer in daily housekeeping. We are too cluttered on vacation to do without it. That being said, $60 is a big chunk of change for daily service. Can you do with just trash and towel service?

I thought that not having daily housekeeping would really bother me but surprisingly I barely noticed it. I'd think twice about shelling out that kind of dough, it'd be better spent elsewhere IMHO.

$60/day is overkill for us, but then we don't generally get maid service when we stay at vacation clubs. It's much easier to just do our own cleaning. Stick the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, run it when it's full. Stick dirty laundry in the washing machine, run it when it's full (morning and night) and flip over to the dryer when it's done. Quickly make our beds but leave the bedspread folded up in the closet.

There's no need to vacuum the floor or change the sheets daily. It seems like a huge waste of effort to do a full cleaning every day.

When they do the trash & towel service, you'll get fresh towels and soaps in your bathrooms along with toilet paper. And they'll empty your trash bins for you.

It's not like maid service will do your laundry, fold up and/or hang your clothes and tidy your junk strewn about the place.

Why do you think you need daily maid service?

Thanks to all for your input. We were just trying to go "above and beyond" since we are taking the grandparents. But - ya'll just solidified that we have several options and can probably use that money more efficiently.

Thanks all!!!

Maybe just get the extra housekeeping once? I really thought this would bug me but it didn't. I found that it was sort of nice not to have to worry about when the mousekeeper would come, it was nice not to have to tip and clean up so she could clean! Having a washer and dryer, vacum cleaner, and dishwasher makes it alot easier to keep the place clean. Also places to put your trash in outside so the cans inside are not overflowing. Not to mention the extra space. In a standard hotel room I don't even want to think what our room would like after several days of no service! But the one and two bedrooms we have had at DVC resorts give us more room to spread out in and more space to store our junk neatly!
