Just got back from a trip that had us at the parks for July 4th. I was prepared for the crowds, but I wasn't prepared for the lack of service I'd get at my hotel, the Paradise Pier Hotel. We arrived just before the 3:00 pm check-in, but weren't allowed into our room until 5:00. We were at the resort for 3 nights and housekeeping only came once to make our beds and once for turn down service, and that was only after a call requesting it. We had to call up for towels the other two days. Room service and bell services were up to par.

I'm wondering if this was due to the crowds and if anyone else had this problem at the other resort properties.

I think its the fact that its a "Holiday" and people tend to call in...

Though my department didnt have that problem...

I wasn't there then, so no experience, but that is simply unacceptable, especially for the prices you have to pay to stay there. I hope that you complained at the time, and you should follow up with Disney regardless.

PPH isn't really known for their service, that is more what GCH is about. The only hotel that does an automatic turn down service is GCH unless you have requested it. At the DLH you get it on the concierge level automatically, but not for any other level. I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience, if you could afford it, I would try the GCH next time, I've always had a great experience with them.:)

We have stayed at all 3 DLR hotels and have never had issues w/ maid service not making up our rooms on a daily basis. That's so terrible that they only made your beds once during a 3 night stay. I hope you complained to management that that is unacceptable. Regarding turn down service, that's only available to all guests of GCH or guests at DLH & PPH who have booked concierge. We did PPH concierge on our last trip and had a wonderful experience with the staff. We went during off-season(Feb) and have never done a major holiday at Disney though.

Hmm . . . I've stayed at PPH before and gotten turn down service without requesting (or paying) for it. I had registered with the notation of "honeymoon" and tipped generously after the first turn down. Maybe that had something to do with it. That, on top of the fact that the previous stay had been at the GCH where I did get the turn down service every night would explain why I thought I deserved it. They must have thought I was crazy to request it. I'm embarrased now. :guilty:

I'm glad that this appears to be an extraordinary occurance and that it hasn't become the custom.

Thanks to all for your replies!

We were at the GC on the 4th.

Checked in on the 3rd and yes it was crazy busy. Please remember that “check in time” is just that. As in…..that is the time that the hotel estimates that most all rooms will be ready. I was not surprised when we didn’t get a room until a bit after 4. During a busy time I don’t find this amiss.

At the Grand there were baskets in the hallway with fresh towels by each room every morning. Made service was WONDERFULL! On the 4th there were washcloths made into sailor hats with stars, flags, the statue of liberty, etc……Our maid gave us two extra…well we did decorate our room for the 4th.

Oh, if you saw two ladies dressed up as Minnie Mouse in the parks on July 6th that was us….we were stopped by people to have our pix taken, received buttons from the CM’s and even got asked by patrons as to where the restrooms were located. LOL….what a blast.

:confused3 I disagree, PPH is known for their service, I am shocked that the service the poster received:hippie: was bad. CALL the hotel and tell them, that stinks!
