Housekeeping and Check In

It's strange to me that this stupid trash policy is enforced so wildly differently. I stayed at BC for three nights wayyyyy at the end of the hall, and they didn't empty my trash the whole time.

But boy were they there at 8:45AM check out day!

I have more hotel stays that most and I've never had anyone mess with me when I have DND sign except at Disney. (Edit: there was a gas leak issue at a hotel once, and they did forcibly enter. I consider that justified!) It's so rude and gross.

But wouldn't this potentially make the problem worse after word gets out that's how Disney handles it?

If the more-desirable rooms are given out first-come, first-served based on who shows-up first, then eventually people "in the know" (like people on these forums), would starting making a point to show-up at exactly 4pm. If enough people end-up doing that, then the pressure to have rooms ready at 4pm would be even worse.

I don’t view any rooms better or worse. But, if they want to allow requests, that’s fine but a request for first available is a valid one too.

Cleaning isn’t done by requests. It’s done based on an efficient schedule Disney decides.

Hold rooms until 4 pm if you want for those that had requests but if my room is not ready and another one is and it’s 4 pm, then I should get the ready room because I am there and that was my request.

I still believe that as soon as 4 pm happens, then all clean rooms should be given to any guest that is there already.

We have already heard of people who get there, find out they didn’t get what they want and get them to change the assignment. How do we know that change didn’t result in the original guest now having to wait longer for a room when what they were assigned was given away

Nothing will please everyone but no requests, would really mean no requests and that once assigned, they don't change it.

As I said, no owner should be sitting in the lobby after 4 pm waiting for a clean room when there are clean rooms ready.

Yes, not a single other hotel on property I’ve stayed at does this. It seems to be a Disney thing.

Have they removed the do not disturb signs from the door?
They have not had "Do Not Disturb" signs since shortly after the Vegas shooting incident. They removed them and the signs now say "Room Occupied".
My experiences with the daily room checks have been varied over the years. When they started doing them they seemed to show up at random times. On more recent trips I've rarely had them show up while I was in the room and if they do they ask when I plan to head out. I think they try to make an effort to be sure you have left the room before they do the room checks. Also have had many times when the trash wasn't removed for several days so I've no idea if they even checked the room on those days.

My thing is this, we're talking about villas. essentially a house (at least some have more square footage than many apartments!) I can't begin to guess how long it takes to deep clean a grand villa. I've seen several youtube videos, and wow! some people are really messy, dirty, icky... So imagine being a housekeeper and walking into a room that looks likes someone had a heck of a party. Not everyone cleans up after themselves in a villa. I believe many folks just make a mess and figure "someone will clean it up". The 4pm thing is ... a suggestion. I know when I've stayed at airbnb, vrbo etc... I've always been given a 4pm firm arrival and an 11 am departure (firm). Honestly, haven't stayed in a regular hotel in a while since I've discovered the joy of airbnb!
