I've typed up our shopping list for our 1st visit as DVC owners. I'm uncertain as to what household items are provided vs. items I will need to purchase. I did a search and could only find info related to studios... not sure if the same items are provided in 1BR units.

Do I need to purchase paper towels? Dish soap? Trash bags?

Any other household items that I may be forgetting?

We plan to wash several loads of laundry during our stay. We use Tide Free due to our youngest son's eczema/allergies. How do you handle laundry detergent? I can order it with our grocery items... but, my guess is that a lot will be left behind. I also thought about measuring out the detergent powder in ziploc bags and just taking it with us. Any suggestions? What do you do?

Thanks for helping us plan for our first visit as DVC owners! :cool1:

I would appreciate this info too. Also, what size filters do I need for the coffeemaker? I am SO glad that I don't have to drink Disney coffee any more. It's the only thing I can complain about!:rotfl:

All of those things are provided. If you run out, call Housekeeping and tsomeone will bring you more.

You'll need to provide your own laundry detergent adn softening agent, but as posted above, other cleaning supplies are provided.

I bring my own. Have been lucky enough to find sizes small enough to fit in my checked luggage. Some members keep laundry detergent and softeners in their owners' locker. If you have space in your checked luggage for the baggies, you can certainly do that

In your situation (since many airlines now charge for even the first piece of checked luggage), I'd order the smallest size available from your grocery service and just leave the unused portion behind. Consider it a cost of vacation.

Enjoy the experience!

Studios generally have the 4 cup coffeemakers and the larger units have the 10-12 cup coffeemakers. Both take the flat bottomed filters (similar to the Mr. Coffee brand).

Some studios have the larger size. If what you get in your room isn't what you want/need, call Housekeeping. They'll take care of it.

Some people buy the combo coffee filters (coffee inside of the filter). Believe Maxwell House is one brand that make them. I personally do not care for them, but others find they make a decent pot of coffee and they are certainly convenient.

If you use salt and pepper, take some. The coffee filters are Mr. Coffee type, a posted. You can premeasure your laundry soap in zip lock bags if you use powder - not sure if I would try that with liquid.

One thing that was missing from our OWK 1 bedroom unit a few weeks ago was a can opener. We ended up using the bottle opener which left really sharp edges on the can. So.....either don't buy cans or take hand crank opener with you just in case.

We've always had a can opener in the unit - there is supposed to be one there. If you encounter the same thing in the future, call Housekeeping and ask them to bring you one.

I was just about to say that you can find this information on the Member Website. (I see members asking this question a lot.)

Choose Member Getaways. Then choose the resort you are interested in and click on Accomodations. Scroll down and you'll see a list of Vacation Home Amenities that includes everything that should be in your room.

I always bring zip loc bags, aluminum foil (those easy sheet things), the following things I put in small zip loc bags and carry in my suitcase salt, pepper, seasoned salt, tea, ice tea mix, coffee, tea bags, seasoned salt and garlic powder. Don't forget the coffee filters..Mr. Coffee style. Have a great trip.

We'll do that. We didn't notice until we were making dinner and trying to open the one can we had. Once the need was solved with the bottle opener, we totally forgot about it until we were talking on the airplane. We headed out to a park that night and the memory of the missing can opener just disapeared. Guess that is Disney magic!;)

Thanks for all of the replies and answers to my questions. I really appreciate the help!

I put laundry detergent into a ziploc bag. The bag did not lock. I must not have closed the bag correctly in my haste to go on vacation, and Tide was everywhere. lol
