Right now we keep it at 72 when we are home during the day, 75 during the day at work and then down to 68 at night. It's mostly the A/C all the time ... Haven't really turned it off yet this year.
64 if Dh isn't at home, 58 if he is... Dh prefers to keep it set to 55 all the time to keep the gas bill down. He says if you're cold, put on another sweater and grab a cat and a blanket to stay warm! I turn the heat up when he's gone to warm the house up for the day, then turn it off before he gets home.
In the summer, we used to keep the air conditioning set to 78 or 80, but we now use solar power for all our electricity, so this summer I get to keep the air conditioning at whatever I want!
Now if we could just afford to convert the gas furnace over to electric, then I'd never freeze in my own house again.
68 during the day, 62 at night. It stays at 62 during the day when people aren't home too, although I'll admit that when I'm home alone I don't override the thermostat. I prefer it at 62.
We use timer thermostats so it goes up and down as the day goes on. First thing in the morning it goes up to 72 for 2 hours while everyone gets ready for school and work. Then it goes down to 65 during the rest of the day til just before dinner time when it goes up to 70. Over night it goes back down to 65 again while everyone is sleeping. We keep the AC doing a similar pattern in the summer.
Does anyone know why at 72 degrees in the summer, it's warm enough for shorts. But 72 degrees in the winter is cold enough to wear a sweater. Just one of those things that make me go hmm..
