Hi all,

We're looking at renting a 5 bedroom property in Anaheim for our upcoming Disneyland/SoCal/DCL vacation..

I think it's off Exit 31 from Highway 97..
On mapquest, where the big junction of the 97 and 51 are.

I'm not sure if it falls in the East Anaheim area, but probably close... and from just googling "East Anaheim Safe?" several apartment rental boards (NOT vacation rental boards) popped up with short answers of no...:(
...but from dates of 2007 and 2008...???

The homeowner has told us the neighbourhood is safe, and I did ask if the neighbourhood is mostly homeowners or rentals, and was assured that it is mostly homeowners.:goodvibes

We realize that not so fun things can happen anywhere, and take our best tourist precautions.

Your thoughtful, perhaps experienced, or even residential opinions of the area are much appreciated.:thumbsup2

Thanks!
:)

I think you mean 57 and 91 for the roads.

Do you know what street you use to get there?

Some neighborhoods around 57 and 91 are decent some are not.

I'll check with the owner.

They're - understandably - reluctant to give out the address before a confirmed booking. :)
If I was a vacation home owner, I wouldn't either:surfweb:

I will ask for a "general neighbourhood" and general driving directions for a better idea:goodvibes

Thanks!!

Do you happen to know if it has a private pool?

Lots of house in SoCal do, but not in the cheaper neighborhoods.

This is not full proof but a good indicator.

Yes, it does, private pool and built in spa :thumbsup2

Thanks!!:goodvibes

Too many variables to answser your question right now. If you can't get the address, at least get the major cross streets.

Generally speaking, East Anaheim is not a place you want to be strolling around in late at night, but if you are in your car and driving to a rental home, you are not likely to encounter problems in most areas.

You might also ask what elementary school residents attend. That helps you pin it down a little as well.

Once you have a better idea of where the property is actually located, you can do more checking.

I also don't know what makes you feel safe. It is sort of a perception thing for a lot of folks and it doesn't come down to just one factor or another. We used to live in an apartment complex in Anaheim where one end of the complex had gang problems and the other end, where we lived, wasn't an issue. My wife felt pretty safe there, even though we had to meet the Pizza delivery guy at the front of the complex because they wouldn't set foot in the place.
