House of the Dragon

DVR'd it last night and have been excited for it all day! :hyper: Do you know if it has any relationship to the actual prequel (Fire & Blood) written by George RR Martin?

Watched it last night. We thought it was great and loved all the little easter eggs in it. It made me so happy about advanced medicine. :)

I loved it!

It made me feel like I was going home to GoT. My DD got mad at me for announcing who was in Outlander and also when I screamed, "The Doctor!" when Matt Smith's character appeared. That man can act! So many wonderful and varied roles, but I'll always love him most as The Doctor.

I didn't find the main characters that attractive. But, I'm really enjoying it just the same. Maybe they'll grow on me. Also, going back to watch GOT all over again. One question, which king was the Mad King? I still don't know.

The Mad King was Aerys II (the father of Danaerys, Viserys, and Rhaegar). He was killed about 15 years prior to the start of Game of Thrones, and although I'm not watching it, just based on Fire and Blood, the events of House of the Dragon are approximately 300 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones.

In the prelude, they actually said 176 years before the birth of Danaerys. I’m thinking of re-reading Fire and Blood just to get reorientated to these characters but that may just muddy the waters.

I'm already hooked again and hope the other spin-offs are as good. I still wish they'd go back and correct the horrible GOT final season after...if ever the books are finished. It didn't fit,...was awful, I hated it and won't watch reruns due to season 8. I invested a decade for WHAT? What they did ABRUPTLY to Daenerys and Jon can't be forgiven IMO

So, the mad King hasn't been born yet, at least according to the books.
