I asked on the restaurant board and got one response. I'm hoping since we do get a DVC discount that more of you have tried it.

We're considering it for either September or December. Does anyone here have an experience to share regarding it? Food? Seating? Music ( We enjoy Southern Gospel Music.)

Thanks.

We ate at House of blues on a non Disney trip 2 years ago and I thought the food was pretty good. We did not do the gospel brunch though. I've been wanting to come back but the kids aren't into that food.

The music will not be Southern Gospel if it is anything like the HOB Brunch in Myrtle Beach, SC.

OK...what was that like? I assumed it was music. I've never been to anything described as a Gospel brunch.

I've been to eat there and enjoyed the food.

We ate at the Gospel Brunch a number of years ago for my DH's birthday. We were seated with others at a round table, food was good (southern style dishes), and I sure thought they were singing Gospel music. It was a family group if I recall correctly. DH had a great time, as they got everyone celebrating something special up on stage at one point. This has got me thinking about doing it again.

We have gone a couple of times, the last being on Father's Day last week!

We love it. The show was different from a couple of years ago, with different entertainers. The food was served buffet style, and was plentiful, fresh and delicious. Beverages such as coffee, juices, etc were included.

We were on the second level (there is an elevator) and seated directly looking over the stage. We had church pews for seats, and a long built in counter type table facing the stage.

The music was excellent, gospel style and very entertaining. I used our DVC discount and purchased 3 tickets, with the 4th one free. Great deal! I think you will enjoy it too...

My DH and I went a few years ago and really enjoyed it. The food was plentiful and delicious; we were seated at long tables on the main floor. Loved the music; the audience interaction was good. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

OK...now I know a bit more about it, and yes, it does sound like something we would enjoy! Thank you.

Bobbi, the Sunday brunch was very good....but very loud. If anyone in your party wears a hearing aid or is sensitive to loud noise, try to see if they can accommodate you seating wise. When we ate there about 18 months ago we were on the lower level in the bowl and it was almost unbearable for our DD. The music is electric enhanced and is not choir style music, for the most part. The family that we saw was quite good but not exactly what we were expecting. Whatever you decide, hope you have a great trip.

I have been twice both times on Mothers Day in 2006 and 2007. We love it. The food is true southern food with your typical buffet fair thrown in for good measure. (Omlet station, pancakes, eggs etc).

My DMom is all of 100 pounds and let me just say I have never seen that woman put away so much food. I know she had at least 5 full plates of food, maybe more. popcorn::

I am from Dallas were we have some true Southern Gospel and I would say the music was right on par the two times we went.

And YES unless they have changed their policy DVC members do get a discount.

This was simply FANTASTIC. Loved every minute of it. We ate well, and were on our feet "Praisin' the Lord". :goodvibes:thumbsup2

Can I purchase tickets in advance and have them sent to my home (or print them out)? If so, can I still take advantage of the DVC discount?

I'm going next month. When I called for my ADR's they just treated it as a regular reservation. I don't if it matters but I will be on the dining plan.

The wife and I were considering this for our upcoming november trip. The only thing that has kept us from committing is the music. I can't stand southern Gospel even a little. To me it is like nails on a chalkboard.

It is probably best if you find something else!

We're looking forward to doing it! Just waiting to see what the F&W schedule is for us to decide to go the the HoB in September or December.

I have a question:
Can I purchase tickets in advance anwith our DVC discount? The member website mention we can get discount at the door. Does it mean I have to wait till I get there to purchase the tickets? How busy are they usually? Will they sold out for first week of May? Please help.

Yes you can purchase tickets in advance, I received the telephone # from member services. You can get a DVC discount and pick up the tickets at the will call window in front of the House of Blues. It was very good.

I'm serious about this: Somebody said it has a real church feel to it. Does it feel odd to sit there and EAT?

Momma was really strict on this point. I can't believe my sisters bring dry cereal into the sanctuary to keep their kids quiet.

We're thinking about HOB in July. How is HOB on days other than Sunday. We will probably be in the parks on Sunday, July 4th.

Another "loved it" vote here. My DW loves Southern Gospel music, her dream is to sing like Nell Carter:goodvibes. The family group they had at the time was really entertaining. I don't know how they did it, but they even got me up on stage (picture Steve Martin dancing on the porch in The Jerk). It's been a few years, we'll have to try it again soon.

We've not gotten the chance to do it yet. Now we're hoping for March, spring break.
