I went to the Gospel Brunch last month. I thought it was a blast, but it wouldn't be for everyone.
If you're looking for a quiet, elegant Sunday brunch, this is not for you.
You sit at long tables in a show room (not a dining room). There's a stage, lighting equipment, speakers, etc. The tables are positioned perpendicular to the stage. There was room for about 20 people at our table, so you'll be sitting with people you don't know. The seats are close together and the tables are close together. It reminded me of the seating in a Las Vegas show.
You have a reserved seat. There were two of us and we were given seats across from each other. If you wanted to sit beside each other you should probably make that clear when you purchase your ticket. We sat in the second section back from the stage and I think we were in the best spot. I wouldn't want to be in the front-most section. You have to look up to see the performers and it would be louder.
Some of the food is in the room where you sit and some is in an adjacent room--not far, just a few steps away. The food is southern-style, a cooked to order omlette bar, carving station, etc. There is plenty of food, both breakfast and lunch fare, but not an opulent display. You are there for about 2 hours. The first hour is when you eat, the second hour is the show. You are there for this fixed amount of time, so it's not the kind of brunch that's leisurely. You can continue eating during the show if you want to, but you probably won't (I didn't), so plan to do your eating first. Once the show starts, it's loud and you are urged to stand and clap. It's very high energy almost the whole time. You don't have to stand, of course, but most people do, so in order to see you'll end up standing, too. People didn't stand throughout the whole show; the beginning, end and maybe a time or 2 in the middle but when you're not standing you'll often be clapping, swaying, etc. It's too loud to carry on a conversation, too.
It's like a high-energy concert with an opportunity to eat some great food beforehand. If that sounds like fun and you like gospel music I think you'll enjoy yourself. My sister and I loved it.
