House dust

I am getting really annoyed with the dust in this house! I am not particularly fond of dusting but I do try to keep on top of it. DD has asthma. I am constantly cleaning the dust off the tv screen. Is there any specific kind of furnace filter I can buy that will decrease the amount of dust in the house?

We buy the Filtrete Ultra Allergan filters. I don't think they really control the dust but they do to a small degree. My DS has asthma. I do get dust but I don't think it's to the point that is overwhelming.

It also helps if you have a closed-system vacuum cleaner. A lot of vacuums kick dust up all over the place. Certain ones--Miehle, Dyson don't.

My DS(8) is extremely allergic to dust and has really bad asthma, I feel for you! I have a forced hot air system in my house and actually put filters in the vent registers where the air shoots out, as well as on the furnace. It cuts down on efficiency but make the air much cleaner. Hepa filters do wonders too!

We use a special vaccume cleaner to help with that.

Also, try not to use chemicals when dusting her room. Sometimes that can cause symptoms, too.

Don't those Ionic Breezes or other air purifiers take dust out of the air? I doubt they'd get it all, but I'm sure they'd get a good bit.

IDK but there is so much more dust down here in NC than there was in VA. I remember being able to dust once a week up there. Here I could dust every day.

What about an electronic air filter? Does anyone have one of those? This dust question is one I have as well. We rarely open the windows due allergies and my wife having asthma, but we still get a lot of dust or so it seems. I have been considering an electronic airfilter and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them?

Find a reputable service to have your air ducts cleaned. You will be AMAZED at how little dust you will have afterwards...
