Hotwire? or Rental Websites?

I currently have a one week reservation with Thrifty for November. I used a code from Mousesavers, totalling aproximately $150 for a compact. Today I received an email from Hotwire advertising the same car and company for about $15 cheaper. My question is, should I take the Hotwire deal or just hold out since I have a few more months? How often do you compare prices prior to your trip? Do you carry multiple reservations? Going directly to the rental websites seem to be pricier.

Also, if I take the Hotwire deal, will they no longer notify me of further car rental drops?

I already feel that I have a decent deal, but would love the best possible one...I'm new to the rental car situation and would appreciate any tips.

if you have to pay upfront for the Hotwire deal, they would have no incentive to send you price drops..???

Acc to Hotwire, I only pay the rental company when I return the car. I guess its just a reservation also. But when I went to the Thrifty website to see if their rates had dropped, I was quoted my original price. So I don't really know where my Hotwire price is coming from...

if you can cancel the hotwire deal if something else comes up, their offer would be ok then, i have noticed lately that they do come back with "actual" companies" when asking for rental cars...

they probably have "contracted" prices with the car rental companies, we have noticed when they quote it is a per day price that applies to all days of the contract period.....not like getting a good weekly rate say of 145 all in and then when you add days the price for the extra days goes to 35 per day

the original business model seemed to be ...we will tell you who you got when you pay us.....but they deal with only a few rental companies
