When they say a Downtown Disney hotel, are they talking about the hotels on Disney property there or close to it? How can I tell what hotels they are talking about? I need one for the day we arrive in Orlando before our trip starts.

Check out the website www.betterbidding.com. It will help you determine exactly what hotel you are bidding on. You can leave a thread with the amenites and price and the administrator of the site will check and see what hotel he believes it is. He is able to do this by what all the other users have reported they got with what amenities in the past. Just explore this site and you will understand better. It is a great resource.

The Area is Lake Buena Vista - Downtown Disney. Most certainly would not be a Disney owned hotel, but I see they are offering The Buena Vista Palace and Regal Sun Resort, both really near Downtown Disney.

I think it will be right there or really near. There's a map there. They wouldn't go out of that area.

When we booked a hotel for Atlanta, we got a Doubletree. They are one of the hotel companys that book through Hotwire. so it is possible you could get the Doubletree by International Drive I think it is??? :confused3

Just as a note about how much you can save with Hotwire, we paid $43 a night thru Hotwire, the same room on the Doubletree website was $125 :scared1: !!!!!

I have received in Hotwire the following hotels: Hilton (La Guardia), Sheraton Suites (Houston), The Fairmont Royal York (Toronto), Drury Inn (San Antonio), La Quinta (Dallas), Hilton (Pasadena), Hyatt Place (San Antonio). Basically from every company.

Keep in mind that Hotwire is a sister company from Expedia. They should have access to any hotel.

I still think it would be either The Buena Vista Palace or the Regal Sun Resort.

It also depends on the *rating, price. I know a couple of people who got Gaylord Palms.

I think Gaylord Palms wouldn't be on the Downtown Disney area. It most certainly be either on the Kissimmee or the Disney Main Gate - Celebration area, according to Hotwire.com maps.

It says that it is a 3.5 star hotel so I should be ok, right? It's just for one night anyway so I am thinking about booking it.

Does anyone know how fast they sell out? This room is for Sept, should I book now or wait?

Once you book, they will charge you the full amount and inmediately give you the hotel name. You won't be able to cancel.

For 3.5 you will surely get a great hotel, I am sure. My experience with 3.5 Hotels, even some 3.0 is that some additional charges might apply, such as parking, internet, and in this case probably a resort fee.

If you're sure you are not cancelling, you can do it now. If not, you can make it closer to the date. Offers like those are always available in Hotwire.

Thank you!! I am not planning on canceling this trip, but ya never know what may happen. If so, I would only be out 47.00. lol I may go ahead and book it this week. I have never used hotwire.com or anyone else for that matter, but I am going to try it and see.

Thanks for all of the help. You guys are great!!:thumbsup2

It sounds like you are right. I am having my DH look at it tonight. He will gladly do it because I have been after him to go ahead and add another day at POR. This will save him some cash. :lmao: I'll post what hotel I get when I book it. :thumbsup2

He has not had a chance to look at it yet and I am also waiting on a friend to decide too. :worship: Anyway, I saw that there is one for 3.5 star at Celebration. How can I tell what that hotel is? It's also 47.00 for Sept 18th. Any idea?

Yesterday I found this website www.betterbidding.com where you can post the star rating, area, your travel date and complete ammenities listed on Hotwire and they will give you their "best guess".

Check out this post (May 11) with a 3.5* in Celebration.

I think this forum might help you have a better chance of anticipating a hotel you might enjoy.

Thank you! I can understand this one. It looks like the one at Celebration is the Raddison and we have stayed there before, it's nice.

I'll post what we get tomorrow. :thumbsup2

If you are not leaving until Sept. the deals will only get better. That is a slow time for Disney with all the kids back in school. In my experience with Hotwire (who I love and have used many, many times:), It always goes down & the inventory opens up the closer you get. I usually book a week to two out. Sometimes within a few days.....

Personally, yes I'd wait. For me, when I know it isn't a peak time, I always wait and always pay less.

Wow! I don't see how it can get much lower in price, but it wont hurt to wait I guess. :) How long should I wait?

I would wait. I just booked for June but was been keeping on eye on the hotel I wanted. I ended up booking the Hyatt last week. The price dropped $8. My trip is in 3 wks.
