Has any one rented a car thru hot wire?
Looking to rent a van for may, never rented one plus never used Hotwire
Please and thanks

I did in January and swore I'd never do it again.
The rental car place was offsite and I had to take a shuttle there. I never noticed if it said that on the paperwork or not prior to booking it.

Then last week, the Robotics Club advisor rented the 2 cars through hotwire. Same issue. We had to take a shuttle to get to the car rental place. I hate that but dealt with it since I had no choice.

I want to rent cars from places right at the airports not deal with shuttles. No more renting through Hotwire for me.

We use Hotwire for Car Rental all the time and never have issues. I rented a fullsize for 10 days in May @ MCO for $213. It clearly states when you choose car class that the locations are "in terminal". Just choose a class click on it and it will say "in terminal" before you proceed. We ended with Hertz this time. I Love Hotwire !!

I would check the transportation board. I just got a mini van with Alamo, on site no shuttle for $192 all taxes and fees for the first week in May. I used the insider 10% off and the AA code for $35 off the week rental.

If you're a Costco member, try booking thru their site. Cheapest I've found.

I used Hotwire for our car rental in Orlando in 2010. I got a mustang convertible for 8 days and it only cost us $99 ($140 when you added taxes). It said right on it the rental place was in the terminal (turned out to be Enterprise) but at that price I would have gladly dealt with a shuttle :rotfl:

We had absolutely no problems.

Just used Hotwire, and it was fine. Also ended up with enterprise. What I did was check the Costco website and find their price, then bid less on Hotwire.

I think it depends on the airport, as to whether there will be a shuttle. For some (ohare) I think it's a lot harder to find an " in terminal" rental.

I have used hotwire several times for car rentals at MCO and have been pleased. I don't know about the rate for a van - I usually get economy or compact for as little as $8.95/day. All of mine have ended up being Alamo or Budget.

Lately I've found the best rates from carrentalsavers. Sorry I don't have any input on Hotwire but carrentalsavers might give you another option to compare.

We rented a minivan from Hotwire for spring break and wound up with Alamo. Normally, I go with codes and so forth to find the best deal ... but the Hotwire price beat the best code I could find by about $80 (and the best code was for a full size, Hotwire was for minivan).

It was fine. In fact, it was the fastest rental car pick up we've ever had at MCO! DH had the car paperwork before our luggage was even off the conveyer belt ... usually, I get the luggage and then sit and wait (and wait and wait ...) while he picks up the rental.

I knew I was bidding on an in terminal rental, so I really wasn't worried about that aspect. I did read a really cruddy review of hotwire car rentals when I googled before taking the plunge ... but my experience was perfectly fine.

I never used Hotwire but have always had good luck with Orbitz. If I remember correctly they will say in terminal or offsite in the listings.

I've used Hotwire for car rentals plenty of times. Offsite depends on the location, obviously. I haven't had to go offsite but even if you do there should be a free shuttle to take you there when yo show your booking. +1 for hotwire.

Can you use Hotwire for a 1 day rental? Considering IOA but transportation is sooooo expensive.

I rented a discounted car once on my own and found out when I arrived I couldn't take it out of the state (which I had intended to do). Any similar restrictions encountered with Hotwire cars? We need one in Albuquerque for October.

I always liked renting from National because I can pick my car and they never have any stupid restrictions, but lately they have been a lot more expensive than other companies.

Thanks,

Sheila
