Hotels that are walking distance?

Hi all. I know I just got back but I'm planning our trip at the end of May. Our DVC ressies are for Sun - Fri but I think we might drive up Sat and spend the night "off property" and then be ready and fresh for Sunday in the parks!

I know the Hilton is across from DTD but don't know the rest of the hotels right there. Do any of you know and can tell me yay or nay on quality? (it is just one night but I don't want to stay in a total dive)

What is that hotel that is relatively new on property? Is it called Bonnet something?

I think you may want to consider staying at Disney instead for the following reasons:

- Disney value resorts can be under $100
- Most hotels will transfer luggage for free
- Free transportation for you
- Better hotels
- Free transportation from airports

Thanks but we don't much care for the value resorts. POR or POFQ is an option...but it is nice to walk to DTD after a 10 hour drive. We drive so we don't need the airport transportation or the luggage service.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate your perspective.

Just stayed at Buena Vista Palace for work. Its right across from SSR. Its nice. Its a conference center, so lots of conventions going on. I think almost all the DTD resorts are nice.

Check out Swan & Dolphin; walking distance around Crescent Lake to BWI/BWV, YC/BC/BCV so plenty to do/see and often you can get a great rate especially if you're Starwood member ( sign up for free membership on their site) or have AAA or AARP but the best rates of all are if you are employed in education field or city/state/federal government employee. A colleague of my DH stayed at Hotel Royal Plaza couple months ago and said it was nice; mousesavers dot com often has link for special rates.

You may be thinking of Bonnet Creek resort. It consists of a Wyndham timeshare, a brand new Hilton hotel, and a brand new Waldorf Astoria hotel. It's near Caribbean Beach resort.

I stayed at the Hilton Bonnet Creek one night in December. Very nice. They have a shuttle to the parks (although I didn't use it.) It also has a great pool with a lazy river (but there is a fee for the tubes.) Like CBR, it's not walking distance to anything (except the Wyndham and the Waldorf).

Nurses get good rates also.

We're doing a similar thing. I just booked the Regal Sun Resort across the street from Downtown Disney for $41/night through Priceline. You take your chance on the resort, but I love Priceline.

We always stay at the Hotel Royal Plaza for a night or two as there always seems to be a special going on and it is close to DTD. Now that DVC has changed the points for weekends, we will probally skip the DTD hotels and stay at DVC for the weekends as they are almost the same for weekdays after looking at the 2011 points chart

The Double Tree is also near the Hilton and its about a 15 minute walk to DTD.

How do I know? We had to walk there to pick up our Budget rent-a car because I reserved the car for 4;00pm and they stop the pick up service at 2 pm. (Just FYI --as I wish I knew that as it took me away from the MK for 2 hours)
