We are headed to Six Flags NJ the middle of August and I need help finding a decent hotel.

Which hotel is the closest?
Do any hotels have a shuttle? (The parking fee looks like its $23 a day?)
Any hotels that fit 5 in a room (1 adult, 3 teens, 1 7 year old)

Thanks!

I live in Ocean County, NJ. Six Flags is really in the "middle of nowhere", so to speak and is more of a day tripper place. I would look at staying at the Radisson in Freehold OR the American Hotel in downtown Freehold. Both are about 20 mins from the park. There are lots and lots of really good places to eat in Freehold either downtown or along Route 9. Federicis downtown has FANTASTIC pizza.

If you stay near Six Flags there really is nowhere to have dinner or do anything else, for that matter. There is a great outlet center about 5 minutes from the park but it has no restaurants.

Get there REALLY early or you will wait forever to park and forever to get on any rides....The lines there are crazy and it is not unlikely that you will only be able to ride a few rides.

Are you going to be in the area and is that why you are going to Six Flags?? Would you be able to change your plans to somewhere else?? If so our fave. park is Hershey Park, so clean, nice clientle, great rides and inexpensive lodging. It is no where near Six Flags but so worth it!!

No close hotels, and yes parking is that expensive. You could stay somewhere in Burlington County (about 35-40 minutes away) and take 295/I95 or even rt 537 down.

It is fairly close-like 20-30 minutes to McGuire Air Force Base so you might find something- but it could also get sketchy quick! (Wrightstown is pretty iffy).

As for Burlington County, you can try a myriad of options in Mt. Laurel and take the NJ Turnpike to the Great Adventure exit- it should only take about 40-45 minutes on the turnpike provided that you GET THERE EARLY- like at rope drop.

I live about an hour away- and there really is just nothing there-- but trees!

I grew up down the road, and agree...it's in the middle of nowhere. Staying in Freehold is the best bet if you just need a place to stay due to a long drive, and there are plenty of things to do and places to eat there (ah, Federici's pizza!). If you are planning on a longer trip and want to make Great Adventure part of the plan, I would recommend something on at the beach so you can incorporate other things to do, but then you are looking at close to an hour drive to the theme park.

It's too bad the on site hotel was never built. Around 2006 it was supposed to start construction, but when there was a management change the new management cancelled it. I am still surprised that there isn't a hotel close to the park since the park gets so many visitors a year.

The parking fee is ridiculous, it's the most expensive parking for an amusement park in the entire country. I pay $60 a year for season pass parking (in addition to $65 for the season pass), but to charge $23 for the condition of the lot and no trams is horrible.

there is a bus from freehold. but if my calculations are right it is 2.10 for an adult each way and .95 for a child so it will be 18.70, almost the same as parking.

as for locations i think the closet place to stay is freehold or out to howell/brick area. that is only a 20 min drive or so on 195, very easy. im from there and we used to get season passes each summer. if you do a hotel in the brick area its next to point pleasant and you can do the beach/ boardwalk too.

which direction are you driving in from? that may make a difference as you do not want to drive 20 min east or north etc out of your way for a hotel. also six flags can be well...:crazy2: some days. not disney, far from it. from my memories it is much dirtier, the lines are always longer, and there is no fast pass unless you shell out $$ for it.

There are 3 hotels on Rt 70/Lakewood/Brick area. That's not far from Great Adventure (as we locals call it). There's a Ramada (corner of Rt 70 and Rt 9 Toms River), and a Best Western and a brand new Hilton Gardens which are further east from GA. But again, halfway to Point boardwalk if you are splitting up your trip.

I stay at that Ramada often when I visit my mom who now lives in a 55+ community down the street! it's nice, but a little pricey in the summer months--I think about $200 a night, but not sure what the hotels in Freehold will run in comparison.
