How was this hotel? I am looking at it for our visit.

Jennifer
The hotel was new when we arrived in July 2008. The hotel comprises two buildings. We were in the second building, which had only been opened two weeks prior to our arrival. We were told that we were the first guests in that room. When we settled in, we were so comfortable that none of us wanted to leave the room; we wanted to move in.

It was tastefully furnished and the room was spacious even with the 4 of us in it. The bathroom was big too and fit all of us trying to get ready in the morning. Housekeeping was nice and kept us well supplied with fresh towels and clean glasses. We had a balcony and a fridge.
The pool area was very nice and clean. There were lots of lounge chairs available and a supply of pool towels. We brought our own water toys because they didn't have any there. There is a golf cart that takes you to the Sheraton's entrance of
Legoland -- really, it's a 3 minute walk to the entrance, but my DDs really wanted to ride the golf cart.
The only bad thing I have to say about this hotel is its lack of inexpensive family restaurant choices. We ate once in this restaurant for breakfast. While it was good, it really was not worth the $$$$ we paid for the meal. So, with our handy rental car, we hightailed it to the nearest Target to buy us some breakfast food (cereal and milk). For us, we like having breakfast in the hotel before heading out for the day, so not having a decent priced place to eat on the premises was a big negative.
There are some good restaurants close by this hotel:
- Pat & Oscars (in the same parking lot as Costco on Palomar Rd.)
- Rubio's, Ruby's Diner, Panda Express (in the Carlsbad Premium Outlets)
- TGIFriday's (across from the outlets)
- Karl Strauss (at the Grand Palisades hotel nearby).
Overall, a great stay and we hope to come back to this place, unless our other favourite place (Hyatt La Jolla) lures us with a better rate.
