We've never been to Disneyland nor california. Doesn't look like we can afford a Disney Hotel. Can you suggest a hotel in walking distance of the parks for our family. We have an DD8. We will be coming in April. Thanks

We have never been either but have a trip planned Feb. After much research I decided on Best Western Park Place Inn right across the street from the entrance. I noticed it got very good reviews on this board. Since I haven't been there, I don't know for sure but I thought it was a good place for you to check out as well. Good luck!

BW park Place, Candy Cane Inn, Fairfield all great hotels within close range and walkable for an 8yo

Just got back Sat from the DL, our first trip. We stayed at Howard Johnson. The hotel was nice- indoor hallways, elevators, balconies in most rooms, quiet rooms, seemed safe, nice pool, and great outdoor water park, comfortable beds and great price with the email discount- just sign up on website. Mimi's-great breakfast is right across the street(excellent for all meals really). Also laptop safe, fridge and microwave +Kcup machine. It is about 2-3blocks from harbor street entrance to DL. BWPP is right across the street, but from looks alone, I think the HoJOs is nicer. Just my opinion.

We also really enjoyed HoJo. Though if the price is similar to BWPPI, I'd probably go with BWPPI only to save the walk. That walk back at night, even though it's only a few blocks, really sucked :lmao:

Highly recommend the Candy Cane Inn. Great service, continental breakfast included, private shutte (that runs On Time!).

Here are my favorites in order of best overall:

1. Fairfield Inn - clean, within walking distance, McDonalds in front parking lot
2. HOJO - little further but still can walk, better pool situation
3. Candy Cane Inn - Classy little motel style hotel
4. BWPPI - closest but not much else other than being clean

Advanced purchase nonrefundable rate is really good. They also seem to be running a special where you get the one night free with at least 4 nights. you'll need to click where it says "View packages and promotions for this room".

You're within reasonable walking distance to DL, and some people walk to/from the Toy Story parking lot to reduce walking time. It's mostly a convention center hotel though.

The issues are that they charge for parking and right now the front entrance is inaccessible due to construction. It should be done by April.

If you're a Costco member, there are also some pretty good packages. What I noticed is one free day at DL.

1. Candy Cane - Premium room!
2. Fairfield Inn
3. Hojos
4. Hilton (only 4 because of distance)

We are also from Pittsburgh & are planning our first trip to DL in July 2013. We are looking at Candy Cane Inn, Fairfield Inn, Ramada Maingate-At the Park or HOJO's. It will be great to hear any positive reviews or Pics of these motels.
