We'll be flying to Disney out of BWI in April and since it's an almost 2 hour drive I was thinking about driving down the night before and staying in a hotel. I want to get an early flight and think this would be the best way to do it. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel that won't cost an arm and a leg in the BWI area?

I wouldn't get one around Route 1 in Laurel. If you go out of BWI immediate area for price reasons, go towards Columbia. There is a nice Marriott in Columbia. You're then about 20 minutes (at the most) from the airport.

We usually stay at the Residence Inn on Winterson Road. They have a very good hot continental breakfast and it is easy to get to the airport and parking from there. Instead of using the airport long term parking you may want to check out econopark express. www.econoparkexpress.com They are generally a couple of dollars cheaper and they pick you up at your car and when you return they drop you off right at your car.

We stay at the candlewood suites. It's pretty cheap and about a 5 minute drive from BWI

I just wanted to second the econopark express. We found them shortly after they first opened and continue to use them for all of our trips. I highly recommend them! :thumbsup2

We stayed at the Four Points BWI and parked our car at the hotel while we were gone. There is also a new Sheraton and Westin very close to the airport and the Homewood Suites is nice. Check out the area around Arundel Mills Mall...many new hotels and it's fairly close.

AIKO,

We are from Harrisburg PA as you can see in my Sig and we do disney 2-3 times a year and always fly Southwest out of BWI. We go down the night before and stay at the Amerisuites and we can leave our car there. We just booked it for our August trip and we are paying 104 for the night it would cost 70ish to park for 7 days. We love it and do it all the time. If you are from Harrisburg we call Liberty Travel on Rt. 22 and tell them we want to do park and fly out of BWI and tell them Amerisuites.. they have always beat anything I could find online. Good luck.

Thank you for all the information. I'm not familiar with the BWI area at all so the suggestions definately help me out. DH said he doesn't think it would be a big deal to just drive to the airport before our flight because he did it before. I told him not to forget we're going to have a 2 year old and a 10 year old who may not agree with that. I definately don't want any melt downs on the plane because they're over tired from being up at 2 am or whatever time we'd need to get them up.

dlrhine: Do you have Liberty book your flight also? Since you leave your car at the hotel I'm assuming Amerisuites transports you to the airport. Do they charge to leave your car there or to transport you?
It would be great if we could save the parking fee.

No.. they do not charge you to leave your car there, that is included in our 104.00 total, and that was 104 with taxes. They have a shuttle to the airport that leaves every 1/2 hour. on the hour and 1/2hour. We fly Southwest so we book that ourselves online. We typically take Southwest flight 1865 which leaves at 6:25 am, we are in FL before 9am. We have the whole day. Any other questions let me know.
