Ok, I posted a similar thread previously but I'm sorry I still do not understand. Can someone please clarify this for me?

Off season you call or try to bok via internet and there are no rooms. Is the hotel actually literally full? Or are sections closed and what they have is just full? In other words, are there times of the year when they close sections of the hotel and have less staff where when they say they are full it is "full" in the sense that what is "available" is full but in reality there are open rooms?

Help I'm sooo confused!

I've never seen, or heard, of Disney closing part of their resorts. There are just times when certain hotels are full. When are you going?

Oct has quite a few things going on toward the end of the month--Food and Wine, as safetymom replied, there is a golf classic at WDW, something with martial arts, and a marathon--depending on which weekend you're there. Add a convention or two, and alot of resorts will be full.

You seem to be going in the middle of October, which is much busier than it has been in past years, but it still won't reach summer crowd levels.

Almost all of October (10/5 - 10/31 and into November) is now Regular season. Disney doesn't close off parts of Resorts and reduce the staff unless they're doing renovations. If they say there are no rooms available, there are no rooms available. OTOH, some travel agencies may have blocks of rooms with some availability; after a certain point, any unsold rooms revert back to the control of the hotel - Disney, in this case.

In addition to what the others have stated about October being a prime time to visit, "off season" reflects park attendance it does not reflect Disney resort occupany.

Many times in the park off seasons; Disney hotels will be entirely sold out due to conventions, weddings, and guests taking advantage of lower crowds at the parks.

October has become a regular season month with the Golf Tourney, Food and Wine, many conventions, the Halloween parties. It is also a very big month for weddings due to the great weather.

Sometimes you can "squeeze in" a reservation by booking for the second day of your trip, say, and then keep trying to add on the one extra day later. As a last resort you could stay somewhere else that first night. There are many ways to play with this scenario and sometimes you can get in. Good luck. :wizard:

After 9/11, I think they did close off parts of resorts because travel was so low. POFQ closed entirely and they delayed the opening of POP. But I think they are up to full occupancy now.

I have not heard of parts of the resorts being closed of.

However, travel agencies get blocks of rooms, so occassionally, you can find rooms on Travelocity or something, after Disney is sold out.
