OK, here is something I posted at TA this AM, that might be the start of a list of options for large r=families...
Good Day, Not sure what "area" you are talking about in this comment...
>>Also, is the commute to anaheim ok from this area?<<
As for STR's being banned, yes, the city of
Anaheim has officially banned them, but there is a short time until early next year where they area allowed with a new set of rules, so I would at least want a Extended Stay Property as a backup if planning a trip.
Quite a few options in the Disneyland area (which is in the city of Anaheim, but by no means the entire city, just a small part of it.
The Hotel area near the parks also included other cities, such as
Garden Grove, Orange and
Buena Park. If looking at these other cities, look at the Garden grove area on Harbor Blvd near the intersection of Chapman and south of it. The city of Orange near The Outlets at Orange, and Angel Stadium, and Buena Park on Beach Blvd and La Palma Blvd.
In the city of Anaheim, of course the Anaheim Resort District area, but also in the Platinum Triangle area near Angel Stadium and the Honda Center.
As for Extended Stay/Apartment Style Hotels and Time Shares, some have separate rooms and some only have half walls, and many have multiple options, including a true separate bedroom with a full door. So you need to not just look at the basic room, but all the offerings, and of course, a one-bedroom suite is more expensive than a studio.
Plenty of options are recently built.
Off the top of my head, the new Country Inn and Suites might work, but not sure if they have a one-bedroom option. Also the old school Residence Inn Maingate on Clementine .
Pretty sure the Extended Stay america only offers studios. Though that is probably the lowest priced basic option.
Peacock Suites, World Mark Anaheim, Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites are the main Extended Stay style Hotels east of the Disneyland Resort.
Looking south, Three new options near the corner of Harbor and Katella.
Hyatt House, Springhill Suites and Residence Inn on Katella.
Homewood Suites, and Dolphin's Cove are also possible options in the area.
In Garden Grove near Harbor and Chapman,
Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites and another Residence Inn.
So that is a start of places to look at.
Forgot the area near Angel Stadium. The Three Ayers Hotels (Ayers Anaheim, Ayers Orange and and ALO) might fit your need, in the lower price range of the category, and a great Cooked to order Breakfast, plus the Embassy Suites and the DoubleTree.
And I probably missed a couple, and hopefully others can fix in the gaps.<<
Since the OP was looking for Basic and lower priced, I didn't mention the DVC Villas at the GCH, but that is another to add to the list.
So folks, let's see if we can come up with a list of Hotels/Motels with rooms that take 6 or more, and then mention features like, is a multiple room option available, does it come with a full kitchen, or something else. Walking Distance, or what type of Shuttle is available, Parking, Free or a charge, is there a Wi-Fi fee, perks like pools (amount and size, quality) and general price range.
If we try to do this as a group, we should come up with a decent list, and with the STR ban starting to impact the market, a good time to get 'r done!
