We were thinking of driving overnight Friday night and arriving Sat but not checking into Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort until Sunday. I recall seeing a Hampton Inn when we first came onto the island. Are there any others that I can look into reserving a Saturday night stay. We want to get there as early as we can, but don't want to use our points until Sunday! :)

There is a Fairfield Inn very close to the Disney property. It is right behind the Hilton Head Diner and Pirate Mini-Golf. We always stay there when we come in the night before.

Do you have to stay on Hilton Head Island or would you consider staying a bit further inland? If so, you could get an inexpensive room along I-95 for your first night and then just commute to/from Hilton Head. We've stayed in Hardeeville a couple of times. It's about 30 minutes from Hardeeville to the DVC Hilton Head Resort. It might be worth investigating.

The Fairfield Inn is not there anymore as far as I know. It switched over to a Days Inn late last year (we had a reservation there for my parents that got switched to Days Inn as a result of the change). They ended up not coming, so I can't comment on the quality of the hotel after the switch.

Surprisingly, the relative cost depends on what time of year you're going-one year, we needed an off-site hotel for one night in early March, and although we had expected to pay less off island, we could get a hotel for nearly as cheap on island in March. And it was so nice to be able to pick up all the Island info booklets and read them before we got to Disney's HHI.

This is a good clean hotel. It is located in Shelers cove just in front of Disney. Behind the diner we got this for a Sat $89 in Aug. the whent an got my room at Disney Sun at 7:00 am and it was ready. I would say to stay there. That way you don't have to drive 2 day just around the block.

I've stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn before (on the mainland, just before the bridge) and gotten a good rate.
Close (but not necessarily cheap) are the Marriott (just north of the Beach House) and the Hilton (just south of the Beach House).

Try Priceline for a room. If you pick resort level you're sure of getting a nice hotel. We got the Marriott on year for 95.00 on Priceline during Easter week.

we went in early on our trip in july and stayed at hampton inn on the island, there is one before you cross the causeway, but there is construction on the highway so you might want to get across the bridge and closer to the resort. the hampton inn is 5 - 10 minutes away and has been renovated recently and was a nice room, with breakfast in the morning. plus i'm hooked on those points and miles rewards.

Try for a Palmetto Dunes or Shelter Cove location and you will be very close to the Disney property (but it's not like ANYTHING at HH is very far from anything else).
