I know it is last minute but today my sister mentioned maybe wanting to go to Maine for Labor Day Weekend. I told her I would look into it...and figured I would try here first! I haven't been to Maine since I was a kid. Any recommendations? Good places to stay close to the beach?

what part of maine do you want to go to?

we always go to the Ogunquit area, we have stayed at the Beachmere and the Anchorage both in Ogunquit.
both very nice.

we love ogunquit and york beach, so much fun there! ogunquit is definitely our favorite beach though.

We're pretty open as far as where we go. We were thinking the York area...but since we haven't been since we were kids we are definitely looking for suggestions!!

We really like this place:

We have stayed at Gorge's Grant 2x and enjoyed it both times very much. We liked the convenience of being able to take the trolley to the beach and downtown.

Good luck!

The Union Bluff on short sands looks like a cool old place, we have never stayed in York but have been there many many times, if you have little kids, the York Wild Kingdom is fun for them, its really old and kind of like a carnival at the beach, but they love it!
I know people that have stayed at the Anchorage on Long Sands beach and they like it. York is fun for walking around the touristy shops and getting taffy at the Goldenrod!
