hotels by LAX airport?

I have an early flight back home during my september trip and am playing with the idea of staying the last night next to the airport in LAX. Does anyone have suggestions of hotels there to stay in for a decent price that are halfway decent as far as cleanliness is concerned?

I work close to LAX Airport. You can stay at any of the ones that are on Century Blvd, but if you want one that is pretty close (less than a 2 minute drive - I timed it), you might want to consider: Doubletree Suites, Courtyard by Marriott, and Hilton Garden Inn. They all share a complimentary shuttle to LAX. They are located on Mariposa & Continental, I believe.

Mary Jo, you are the best. It was so nice meeting you on the Girls Only trip! I wish we had a chance to spend more time with you! I really appreciate the info on these hotels! I will deffinitely look at these for my stay!

Another option at LAX is to bid on a 3, 3.5 or 4 * hotel on priceline. At the present time, all of the hotels in these categories in the LAX zone are from major chains and include a shuttle to the airport. You will probably need to bid about $45 to get a 3.5* bid accepted, with about $5 less for a 3* and about $15 more for a 4*. In addition to the bid amount, your cost will also include taxes and fees.

Because an accepted priceline bid is nonrefundable, you should book a fully refundable room now and wait to bid on priceline until just before your trip. Check out biddingfortravel.com and betterbidding.com for tricks and hints about priceline bidding.

Sarah - we've stayed at the Hilton and the La Quinta near LAX - both include a free shuttle to the airport. We preferred the La Quinta (although no restaurant on-site).

The Hilton has some smoking rooms and you have to walk right past them to get to the non-smoking rooms - blech! It was also quite expensive, just for a room to sleep in one night. The walls were also paper thin. I could hear the lady in the room next to me talking on the phone until very early in the morning and people walking in the halls, doors closing, etc. I would not recommend the Hilton LAX

We did this for the same reason - did not want to get on such an early shuttle to the airport (we would have to get the shuttle four hours before flight time ).

We stayed at the Marriott and it was good. Price was around $70US but that was a few years ago. Its very handy to the airport, the rooms were smallish for a family of 4 but we did fine.

We booked the Hilton for our upcoming trip. It has a free shuttle. We only booked them because we have HiltonHonors so it was a free room. We actually really wanted the Hilton Garden Inn because it has a free shuttle and gets very good reviews on Tripadvisor. Too bad we couldn't get a free room on our dates. There is also an Embassy Suites that looks nice and they have a free cook to order breakfast and a shuttle.
