Hi there.

Looking for advice on accommodations for a potential end of November trip.

Family of 3 with a 5 year old. Little one probably handles long days of walking a little better than most her age but proximity to the parks is still a priority as we almost certainly won't a car.

We will likely do 3 full days at the parks, slight chance of four.

Budget wise we're not going to stay at one of the onsite properties, but probably have the flexibility for most off-site options.

So...any suggestions on what may be a good fit?

Depends on if you want a hotel with interior corridors or are okay with motel style exterior corridors. If you want the ease of walking and are okay with exterior corridors, the below locations are right across the street and are all fine.
Best Western Park Place Inn
Tropicana
Park Vue
Desert Inn and Suites
Camelot Inn

Thanks! Two things I should add in terms of preferences:

- pool situation probably a slight priority despite time of year. The little one loves water.
- everyone likes cleaner hotels obviously, but we would be fine paying more for places that are more consistently/reliably clean

A bit farther away, but still walkable is the Howard Johnson. It has interior corridors in several buildings and a little water park for kids along with a pool. Just across from Howard Johnson is the Courtyard by Marriott. It is a nice hotel with interior corridors and a very nice pool area.

I think Courtyard would be great if the price isn't too high for your dates. They have a splash pad type water park area that would be perfect for your kiddos age. It's very walkable too.

If you don't mind a shuttle, we stayed at the Hyatt Grand Regency in Orange when our kid was little. Two pools, very nice hotel. kid suite had bunk beds, although wee only had one kid she loved climbing up top and it great for storage. Starbucks in the lobby and a shuttle that only serves the hotel, big upside, that ran every half hour pickup at the hotel and the park. Any amount of walking wasn't fun at the end of the day. We didn't mind waiting for the shuttle.

Candy Cane Inn. Newly remodeled--free breakfast--walkable--wildly popular. Our favorite off-site hotel for many reasons but the shuttle is #1 for me. It will come in handy if your five-year old decides they can't walk another step at the end of the night.

We stayed at Best Western Plus Anaheim Inn in June and loved it. There was one big room with 2 queen beds, then a second bedroom with a king bed. It was very clean and comfortable. They also have regular rooms with just 2 queen beds. They serve a free hot breakfast which was really good and saved us time and money. The pool is on the small side but clean and I like that it isn't overlooked by everyone else's windows. The hotel was a 2 minute walk to the crosswalk into Disneyland. From our door to being through security and inside the park was 12 minutes. *

We've done Hojo, too and the walk felt SO long at the end of the day. Their pool is really nice, though.
We stayed at Candy Cane and the shuttle is really handy. They are renovating the whole hotel so I bet it will be really nice when they reopen. That was a 12-15 minute walk to the gates if you don't take the shuttle.

(* There is another Best Western called park Place Inn that people like, but I've never stayed there. It's right at the crosswalk. There are 3 or 4 best Westerns close to the park, so it can be a little confusing. )

You’ve gotten really good suggestions so far. We adore the candy cane and the hojo. Although for your child, I think the hojo pool would win! My boys loved the kids play area at hojo at that age. I’m also going to throw in the new Hilton garden inn/home 2 suites in as a contender. A tiny bit further than hojo. On south Manchester. Both have really spacious rooms. Home 2 suites had a kitchenette and comes with included hot breakfast. They are a two in one hotel, meaning they share the same pool area. And the pool looked really nice and had a super cute splash pad area. Not as extensive as the Hojo splash pad area. But very nice.

We really enjoyed both places. The property is about 1 year old. Rooms were very modern and spacious. And They are a hotel.

Hope that helps!

If pool is a priority, and you want one that’s walkable to the parks, Courtyard Marriott ThemePark is one of your best options.

We usually stay at the Park Vue- it’s super clean and updated and the closest hotel/motel to the parks, but it’s an older style motel and the pool is meh at best.

Based on this thread and other research, seems like HoJo or Courtyard may be the best fits fkr us. Quite a big price gap though for our dates. Anyone have experiences with both?

I only have experience with the Courtyard. You said the pool was important I believe. We were disappointed in the pool because it is so small. The waterslides are great but I like to have a pool to hang out in while my kiddo is on the slides.

Yes, the actual pool is small. They have a large hot tub, water slides, and a kids soak area. If you want a pool to swim in, it is not much room.

Thanks all! I should have been less specific with my word choice. "Pool" isn't so much a priority as "water play stuff" more generally.

Looking at Courtyard now and it says you have to pay in full at the time of booking and you can't cancel or make any changes to the reservation. Is that accurate? Seems really strict! Not sure I'm comfortable with that.

We stayed at the Courtyard in June and our toddler loved the waterpark, probably more so than DLR itself. Every room there comes with a twin-sized bunk bed so if your kids are ready for them they might work well for you. We had a king room that had a separate alcove for the bunk bed which was nice too, and the balcony faced the park so we were able to get a full view of the fireworks from there. Beware though you have to make reservations for he waterpark in 2-3 hour blocks each day. If you go at night you could probably get a good view of the fireworks from there too.

Shouldn't be unless it's a discounted, nonrefundable rate. But I see 7 days advance needed to cancel now, which is unusual.

This depends on the rate you're booking. If you're looking on the Marriott site they do like to push you toward the prepay non-refundable rates. There's usually a tab at the top where you can see all available rates and should be able to see various options there for cancellation.
