Hotel stay

I think if you go and give surfaces a clean and maybe take your own bedding and towels you will be fine. Like someone else mentioned they are now saying that the risk of contacting covid through surfaces is low. I would actually feel safer in a cottage/house types place then a hotel (mainly because of elevators and common areas).
I think you just have to ask the questions about their practices. My daughter stayed in an air bnb a couple of weeks ago and said it was good.
The Hotel at Harrison we stayed at - housekeeping didn’t even enter the room for cleaning for 3 hrs after guests left. So I wouldn’t be comfortable with a 4 hr turn around.
We all need a getaway!
We're booked into a condo starting Wednesday - Friday morning. It's across from Horseshoe Valley, a timeshare resort and I think it will be perfect! The main reason i was asking about Airbnb wasn't due to concerns over COVID transmission but the fact that i need a FULL kitchen to prepare my own food. There's no way i can eat in a restaurant that isn't in Disney World and know that I'll be safe. I looked everywhere within a reasonable drive for a hotel that fits that bill (places like Homewood Suites, Residence Inn, Marriott Suites are perfect) that wasn't within an urban setting and couldn't find anything! We both need a break from the day-to-day nothingness of our lives right now and since i can't be out over a meal time that limits us and why would we want to be stuck in another city? This place is a full one bedroom unit, with a balcony that hubby is looking forward to just sitting on & reading (yeah right, read that as snoring!), a big living room with a fireplace (better not need that!) and lots of nice walking areas. It's within driving distance of a few beaches AND our son & his wife. We haven't seen them since late November and they've bought a new house we really should see! Couldn't go when i was only able to eat 5 foods since we need to stay overnight but going for a visit after dinner is PERFECT. We pulled out of our current "bubble" last week so we can actually HUG THEM!

They're running a Canadian Residents special so we're paying $127/night (as my son put it, who else can stay there right now?!?!) I booked it thru Hotels .com so i could earn me some airmiles even :P I'm waffling between being excited to get away and terrified to leave my own comfort area! We haven't left our city since the end of February 😱

the room is gorgeous, nicely spread out with tons of space. They have put extra cleaning protocols in place but I'm still nervous!!! I decided to spray the bathroom counter with the cleaning spray I brought with and the face cloth I grabbed to use came away filthy! Went to use a frying pan and it was sticky 🤢
the area is gorgeous, right on the side of the ski hill and it's dead quiet. Would I come back? Maybe, but the dirt I found makes me nervous about their normal cleaning processes. That isn't even covid related, just snobby me!

Well we spent the day at the zoo. That was a lot of walking! We will have to be back since my AM tickets just shipped. Perhaps in spring, maybe then a few more things will be open. Kiddo thinks the walking feels like more than Disney because of all the hills.

We are at the hotel now and it is super quiet. We picked up McDonald's to eat in the room because the driving was freaking me out. Why are there so many lanes??? Pool is not open, that would have been a good cap on the day. But everything is clean and feels safe enough.

Hope you’re having a great trip! But wow about dirty counter. I think I’d be asking to see the manager and showing him the dirty cloth so they’re aware cleaning needs improvement esp in these times.
I started cleaning high touch areas in hotel rooms years ago. I never trust housekeeping to do an adequate job. Especially tv remote, light switches, door knobs, any handles, and of course bathroom.

We had a wonderful time, short but sweet. We'll probably go back in October to see the colours, it's covered in maple trees, it will be stunning! The cleaning, yeah, well, I'm always going to clean before i use things, put things down to the fact that I have too many allergies to be cavalier, I just found it interesting that they had a big laminated sheet on the kitchen counter detailing what they now do. Only thing we can think of is that the unit had sat long enough to get covered in dust/grime that I wiped up.
It's only $100-ish a night over the Thanksgiving weekend and i think that would be a nice way for us to get away again. Our kids all have dogs they can't leave AND they can't bring them here, I won't be able to eat anything much different by them and It's so not fair to cook a big meal i can't eat anyway, might as well go somewhere alone. Here's a few pictures i took this (very chilly) morning from the balcony the one that's just trees, look closely and you can see the top of the chairlift and the other you can see the lights on the top of the ski hillScreenshot_20200904-163657_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200904-163718_Gallery.jpg
