hotel split stay question...

so im thinking of doing a split stay 4nights@pop/4 nights at WL.....
if i book room only, can i buy say 7 day tickets from undercover tourists and use them for the length of my stay?

i understand that in order to only do dining plan on half of my stay, it would have to be the first half or i have to but a 1 day ticket for 2nd half?

also planning to do universal/IOA...i know that staying at value during disney stay and staying 2 nights at universal would allow me to get the fastpass, but not really aiming for this, would you do your universal visit towards the beginning of your stay while staying at a value?

dates: aug 14 -aug 22...first time going to disney

I think you have to have a park ticket and room to get DDP, although I am not completely sure. We did a split stay in November, and I know we had to tack a one day ticket onto our second half to get the DDP. Hopefully someone will know for sure....

I would make sure you do not do dining plan for part of your stay that you plan to be a universal, you may waste a few meals. If you do the dining plan for the first stay it expires at midnight of check out day. The tickets are good 14 days from first use. If you are splitting stays between two resorts you would have to get a one day ticket at the second resort to get DDP.

so then the only way of getting dining plan only for second part of stay would be to purchase a one day ticket?

Yep... you have to have the "package" which includes room, park ticket and DDP.
