HAS ANYONE STAYED HERE AND IS IT IN DOWNTOWN DISNEY?
WHAT IS IT LIKE? THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Stayed their once. It is a very nice hotel with very good service. It is at the entrance to The downtown Disney area. It sets beside I-4, so I would request a tower room. If you don't stay on property, then this would be a good choice.

I've stayed here. I wasn't overly impressed with it, however I stayed in one of the wings. Apparently, the tower is a LOT nicer.

Based on my experience, I would try a tower room. The room I had wasn't horrible, but it was somewhat run down, and it was just too much money for what we got.

Stayed there this past october. Loved the tower room, wasn't impressed by the rest of the property or management. Went from there to AKL, but I think even if we'd gone to all-stars it would have been an improvement. But you can't beat the tower room, it was magnificent!!!

We too are also thinking of Royal Plaza for a week trip in July before our Ap's expire. There is 5 of us so I am looking for something off property. It would be 568.00 for 7 nights in standard room. Is there bus service there?

Haven't stayed there yet - but am considering it for future trip.

Their web site is www.royalplaza.com - they do offer comp shuttle service to all 4 parks.

Hi
We have just checked into the Royal Plaza. We are very pleased with our 9th floor tower room, we have a fantastic view of DTD aswell. We have just walked to Disney Quest from there which took us bout 15 mins.

Hope this helps.

We've stayed at the Royal Plaza twice and like it very much. First was in the wing room. Was perfectly fine for us-- coffee maker, nice big safe for our laptop, nice decor, great location, and good (inexpensive) restaurant. Our only problem with the stay was that the hottub broke down and we kept getting conflicting information about when it would be fixed, along with an attitude from the staff that went something like, "How the heck do I know and why would you care!?"

Our most recent stay was just a few weeks ago in one of the tower rooms. The room was huge and very bright and airy (until you pulled the drapes, of course). Still the nice big safe and coffeemaker, but now a pretty deluxe bath and nice sitting area. Service was pretty perfect this time-- water had to be out for a few hours to fix a leak, but we were forewarned via a note under the door and the repair was in the afternoon anyway, so it didn't affect us.

The Royal Plaza has become our first choice hotel at the World, because of the fabulous specials they run on rates. Our goal is to aim for $50 a night for accomodations and we were able to come close to that on both visits (the first was about $57 per nite and the second visit was $51.75 per night). They do have a $7 (soon to increase to $8) per night resort fee, which buys you a newspaper. This is the only very strong negative that I can express about the place (it is not a resort-- it has a very basic pool and a hottub-- this charge is completely unjustified). However, my most recent special including a waiving of the resort fee, so I know it is possible to stay without paying this ridiculous fee.

Beatnik

PS We only go to the World in the lowest of the low season-- so for the poster who is going in summer and getting a rate of $81/night that seems very reasonable to me. But watch the resort fee!

We need a room April 14-16th; the website is showing about $160 a night for a tower room -- too rich for my blood.

I assume this is because it is the week after Easter, and alot of schools (like my son's) have spring break over this week.

We stayed there in February 2003 and thought it was very nice, we also got the 7 nights from expedia for 350 incl. admission to universal and seaworld for 2 people. Hotel had nice pool , jacuzzi and peole there were very nice. We were in wing which had a small terrace and table where we could eat dinner and also a gate that lead to the pool. It was lovely , My husbnad and I like a nice hotel but to be honest we are not in the room very long. We really go to Florida for what is outside of our room.
We don't feel that the overly priced resorts on property are worth it.

Nice Hotel!

We were very happy with our tower room. It was nice, clean and big. It had a sitting area next to the beds. The beds were double--queen size would have been nicer. The bathroom was huge! It has a Roman tub and a separate shower. I would have liked a room on the upper floors, but when you get such a good rate, you shouldn't expect to get the best rooms! We were fortunate enough to get the Travelzoo package.

We walked to Downtown Disney and bus shuttles worked for us. Depending on the hotel that you are staying at, you might have to stand or wait for the next bus.

We would stay there again!

Thank you so much for the link. I was looking at this hotel since the wife and I were traveling without the rugrats. We wanted a place that wouldn't necessarily be crawling with youngsters. I had found a $69/night rate but no free night after the 4th one.

Perhaps the missus' and I will get a bottle of champagne to celebrate with the savings!!!!!!
