I have read mixed reviews about Del Sol Inn on Trip Advisor but I'm taking my chances anyway!
I booked a kids suite at the Del Sol June 13-17th so I hope it's a decent place.
I originally had a place booked by the convention center but my friend's family is staying at Hojo's, which is now booked
And we wanted to be within a short walking distance of each other's hotels.
Being by the crosswalk was an important feature for us without a stroller for the 5 yr old.
I also liked the fact that it's right next to Denny's and IHOP.
This trip will be a thrifty one if we want to come back in September for our Birthdays.
At IHOP kids eat free after 4pm. Guess where we're eating for dinner every night?
Everyone I know who has stayed at the Del Sol hated it with the exception of one friend who is admittedly not picky and could care less if her room was insanely clean.
They charged two sets of friends TWICE for their stay two years ago, so please, if you choose this hotel, be very mindful of your charges and get a receipt when you check-out.

we're going to stick with the Del Sol anyway. It was a good deal for a kids suite and we really need to be near the crosswalk. All the other hotels on Harbor within that block are either booked or over $149 after June 15th.
Yes, the front desk staff seemed a bit unprofessional and immature. Even said I was "pushing it" when I asked for an Entertainment Card discount.
I didn't care..still got a good rate without any of the kids sleeping on the floor in sleeping bags.
My friend and her mother and young son stayed at the Del Sol last July because they could not justify spending $100 or more to stay anywhere else just to go to DLR for one day, and they could get the Del Sol on very short notice. The cost was well under $100 per night in the peak of summer. Now, admittedly, while my friend says that she has had to stay in a lot of fleabags when she has traveled for business, she did say that there was nothing wrong with the Del Sol. She said it was clean and the room was a good size and there was a little free breakfast in the morning. She said it was basic - nothing snazzy at all - but there was nothing wrong with it. In fact, she originally was going to stay at the Quality Inn, but after I pointed her to some bad reviews on that (indicating lots of bugs), she switched to Del Sol. She had no complaints about it. It filled the bill for what they needed on short notice and it was fine!
We stayed there about 5 years ago and found it to be OK. The room was clean and a decent size. The free breakfast wasn't fantastic, but gave us a start for the day. Didn't use the pool. I remember it being a bit noisy, but that's the only problem I can remember.
We stayed there in dec 2007 it was a nice place to lay my head nothing fancy but it was clean.
We stay at desert inn now cant beat the 69 bucks a night I got for 5 nights and yes I check hojo entertainment rate but was no available. If the hojo was available it would be a no brainer for 59 bucks a night.
We stayed there three years ago and were totally satisfied with it. DP was pretty sure how they had the fridge plugged in was a fire hazzard (had tons of stuff plugged into one of those extension cords). The pool was never crowded, they had a little breakfast in the morning and it was so close. Depending on what room you are in, they are some of the closest around! I'd definately stay there again.
That said, I don't really care about hotels. As long as we can leave our stuff there I'm fine with it. This time around we are staying at the Worldmark Anaheim w/DP's parents. I *know* they would not find the Del Sol to be okay.
