My Sister in Law is planning a trip to L.A. next month and has asked me to assist her in making some of her travel arrangements. Unfortunately, I haven't been to Disneyland in about 10 years now so my knowledge on the hotels in the area is rather limited. So, I thought I could ask here on this forum for some advice for her. She would like something with interior corridors and more of a hotel feel, but would also like to pay under 80.00 a night. Can anyone here offer any recommendations on decent hotel style accomodations close to Disneyland which are fairly reasonably priced? The last time I was in Anaheim I stayed at the Inn at the Park which I believe is now called Coast Anaheim. Has anyone stayed there recently, I remember that was pretty OK, but of course a lot can happen in 10+ years. ;)

I stayed there in late 2003 and it was just okay, like you said. But that's how I feel about all of the offsite hotels that I've stayed at. The room we had had a nice view of DCA and some of DL. It is in walking distance to the resort, maybe less than 10 minutes. The whole area surrounding the DLR is much nicer than it was 10 years ago. It has all been renovated and has more of a resort feel to it.

While I haven't stayed there myself, the Howard Johnson always gets good reviews. It looks like it has the hotel feel that your SIL is looking for and it is also within walking distance to the parks.

My family and I go to Disneyland often throughout the year and we always use Priceline for our hotels. If you stick with 3* in the Disneyland vicinity, you will get hotels like the Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, etc... We have stayed at all of these and more for between $40 & $50 per night depending on the hotel/season. If you're interested in using Priceline, just make sure that you read their rules on their website and you can also visit a website called biddingfortravel.com, which helps people bid through Priceline and it also shows a list of what people are bidding and what hotels they are getting. It is very informative on this subject.

Another Priceline vote. My $37 usually buys me the Hyatt Regency Alicante. I love getting Hyatt Regency's on Priceline - they have a liberal and cheap upgrade policy!

I have also won bids for WestCoast Anaheim and Marriott. I have never been disappointed with the 3 star option.

The Howard Johnson Anaheim is a great place to stay. It has 6 buildings and each has interior corridors. Most rooms have a balcony and the gorunds are pretty. The rooms are comfotable and clean and the walk from the hotel to the front gates of the park is about 7 minutes. There is also the ART shuttle that can be used for $2 per day per adult. Here is a link that shows the location of many of the hotels and motels.
