OK...i have a question for all you hotel experts.
I finally got my first PIN code:banana:
we were planning on going for 1 or 2 nights at the end of june adn we were originally going to be staying at HOJO because even PPH was almost $300/night....but now with the PIN we can get PPH for $182/night (originally $280) or DLH for $202/night (originally $310) or GCH for $277/night (originally $425)

which one should we choose???????

We stayed at the PPH a few weeks ago ($199/nt - military rate). There were five of us squished in the tiny room. The only things going for the hotel are: 1) the slide at the pool which my kids wouldn't go on :sad1: (they just wanted to lay out in the sun and not swim), 2) service--all the staff we encountered were wonderful, and 3) the location. As for the location, it isn't super close but it's closer than the Holiday Inn Express on Katella which we were going to stay at. Also, having three teenagers, I was comfortable letting the ones that wanted to sleep in do that while the rest of us went to MM.

The disadvantages: 1) the cost, 2) lack of breakfast options on-site (there is the character breakfast which is pricey or a small snack bar which is also pricey for what you get--$36 for five bagels, five oj's and a small container of fresh fruit), 3) it is fairly clean but the hotel is a little shabby, 4) lack of lounge chairs by the pool. As I stated under the advantages, my kids just wanted to lay out in the sun but all three days they did that, they ended up on towels directly on the concrete--there were NEVER any lounge chairs available and the pool area was NOT crowded!

From what I've read on the DIS Boards, Hojo's is not much farther than Paradise Pier and if the cost is a lot cheaper, I think it'd be a better deal.

The GCH! We absolutely LOVE it there. Until it becomes cost prohibitive for us, we won't stay anywhere else.

Grand Californian as is is a deluxe and awesome hotel if you can afford it.

Disneyland Hotel is my second choice as it is closer to the parks and Downtown Disney that has breakfast. It has more greenery and the pool is on the ground floor. PPH currently has a bar and PCH Grill for all of your food needs except for the vending machines. DLH has more places to eat.

PPH is a nice hotel but for the extra dough you might as well stay at DLH and get a greener and larger hotel that has more shops, a nicer pool, and lots more places to eat as well as being close to RainForest Cafe for breakfast and Compass Rose for pastries and such. Live the Legacy.

Thats what i was thinking.
We're only going for one or 2 nights (we now only live 1 hr drive away instead of a 5 hr plane ride) so for another $20 or $40 we can get the DLH

So i guess its really between the DLH and the GCH

If we go for 2 nights, it would be $150 more to stay at the GCH than the DLH....we are most likely going to spend most of the time in the parks...maybe going back to the hotel to swim once
if the only amenety we were going use at the hotel is the pool, is the GCH worth $150 more than the DLH?

Honestly I have never stayed at any of the disney hotels, but if your going to be in the parks all day you might as well save your money and stay at the hojo.

Now if you were going to enjoy the hotel experience I would say the grand or disneyland hotel.

Are you going to the park on days that will be Magic Morning days? If not, I'd honestly definitely just take the HoJo and spend the savings elsewhere. I haven't even stayed in the HoJo, but the Disneyland Hotel is about the same walking distance to the park as the HoJo is. If I didn't plan to spend time in the hotel, the main advantage that the Disney properties have is the free Magic Morning.

But if you can afford it and think it's worth it, I think it would be really neat to stay in any of the Disney hotels. It's just from a completely logical standpoint, since you're not planning to spend much time in the room and the walking distances are similar, staying somewhere more expensive doesn't make as much sense as staying at the HoJo. (Though I guess from a purely logical standpoint, paying money so you can go wait in lines doesn't make much sense either, does it? ;) )

If I were you, I'd actually just buy an AP and use the PIN to stay in the Disneyland Hotel or the GCH on another short trip during off-season, when I'd have more time to enjoy the room. I'm not sure that that would cost much more than staying 2 nights at the GCH.

I'm a newbie and I'm so sorry to barge in. May I ask what is an AP discount? How do I get that? Plan to go in September and would like to stay at the GC.

oops sorry. just checked hyperguy's abbreviations list and got my answer.... silly me. sorry again!

I agree. For instance, if you're staying Friday and Saturday night, you'd get MM on Sat and on Sun mornings, and it would really increase the value of those rooms!

I've spent 2 nights @ HoJo, 1 night @ PP & 1 night @ DLH.

I very much prefer HoJo ~ especially with the ent. rate.

I prefer DLH over PP if it's only $10 or $20 more per night.
