Hotel price drop after Thanksgiving?

Hi all,

we are planning to drive down to WDW in November 2012, ASAP after Thanksgiving.
I saw that for the Disney resorts, the prices go back down to regular or value season the very first weekend after Thanksgiving (to be clear, the next day after Black Friday, which this year is November 26th).

I was wondering if anyone knew if it's the same for most of regular hotels/motels.

We were thinking of stopping for 3 nights in Hampton Inns (yes, splitting the drive in 3 days... long story).

Before going on with the planning I'd like to know if we can leave that Saturday or if we would be better off leaving the next Monday... We don't really care if the hotel is packed with people going back home after Thanksgiving, as we'll just be stopping on our way to WDW and will have made reservations... but the price difference might make a difference.

I looked on different hotel chains websites to see the prices, but unlike Disney, most only tell you the price for a certain date (not a price schedule) and I can't see a pattern...

Thanks!!! :flower3:

Hotels outside Disney don't change their rate seasons nearly as often. It's usually just 2-4 times a a year.

That said, I don't know if they charge more during Thanksgiving or not.

Not sure about the hotels, but that is the busiest travel holiday all year here in the States. The roads can be a nightmare...particularly that Saturday and Sunday.

Just thought that may help in your planning.

Sounds like a great trip!

Hampton Inns tend to be on the higher price end. You may get better value for a similar product with Country Inns and Suites - rooms are very comparable to a Hampton, as they offer saver rates and more discounts in my opinion. Where are you planning to stay over at? Some of us may know the best place to stay in a particular town.

And last spring, Discover America sold 1 night certicates to a lot of chains for great prices. I am hoping to cash in on that bargain myself this year if they have it again. $50 for a country inn and suites certificate!

Wow, grateful to wake up to so many replies!

let me see,

-HeatherC: roads a nightmare... even the I-81 and I-95? Since except in getting to Universal (our first stop) we're only going to do highway... Taking hotels along the highway, same for food... I mean, how bad can it be? Is it hours of traffic jam, or just that there is a lot of cars on the roads but it's pretty fluid?

-Judique: Well we did a roadtrip last June, and we did one Best Western... we hated it. We did a Hilton Garden (surprisingly cheap!) and loved it... and after trying a Hampton Inn and loving it too, we stuck with that for our remaining stays on our way home.
I can't say I found them that pricey.... it depends on the location (as much for the price as for the quality of the place, of course), but it's usually around 100$/night which is about our budget.
We never tried Country Inns/Suites though.

Oh, and we don't have a Discover Card, wouldn't get one just for a deal anyways... and I'm not even sure if Canadians can!

We are planning to stop in Harrisburg, PA (or near), along the I-81, than in or around Florence, SC (I had thought Latta since it's a bit further, thus better with the drive time), and finally one last stop IN Orlando, because spending the night at Universal but not hitting the parks until the next morning doesn't seem worth the price difference.

Thanks!
