Hotel options other than Atlantis

DCL cruise 07 did the full on Atlantis water park/resort for the day. Spent allot of $$$ for a water park and did not feel the need to do it in 08 so we stayed on the boat which we loved so here is the question..

Has anyone used another resorts pool and beach for the day and paid a fee for it? I figure if we can stay at the Sheraton for the day or something along those lines, we can take a taxi from port which is not a big deal but I would love your thoughts! I hope I am making sense!!

Anyone have any suggestions?
