I have booked to stay at this hotel for 3 nights on 21st Nov with our 2 children ages 4 and 1.
I have stayed at the Disneyland hotel and a little worried about down grading but it was the cheaper and sensible option.
Any info on this would be great

I have never stayed at this hotel we have always stayed at the cheyenne. However, we have eaten in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was fabulous. We also chose to have a drink in the bar here every night after the parks were shut because it very peaceful and relaxing for the children to calm down after all the excitement of the parks.

We always go the same time of year as you are going and going the same time this year too and have always thought it would be a really nice hotel to stay in but our budget doesnt stretch quite so far. The ice rink and the christmas tree that they have outside the hotel is alway beautiful too.

Hope this helps

Hi Milliemouse, welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I've not stayed at either hotel but others on here who have stayed at both report the Hotel New York as just as :thumbsup2 as the DLH.

Hi !

Our family has stayed twice at the Hotel New York and we just love it. Like somebody already mentionded, bar is nice and restaurant Manhattan is lovely, albeit tad expensive.

It's a relatively small hotel (well, at least compared to Newport ;) ), so for example, breakfast time is nice and quiet.

If there is a big confress when you're there (we had this year), it can get crowded with "black suits", but that never bother us, they usually behave very nice ;)

Our son (7yrs old) loved the pool downstairs, the arcade was a bit lame, most of the machines weren't working but hey, that is not why we are there, is it ?

But, it is starting to get a bit old, it is in need of paint and new wallpapers and maybe redo bathrooms etc.

Despite those minor flaws, I wouldn't hesitate to back :)

Enjoy !

Hi

We've stayed at both. We first stayed at the disneyland hotel in cc but couldn't afford to stay there this time so we decided on the hotel new york.

We only stayed there a couple of weeks ago. I liked it and would stay there again. The room was lovely and the breakfast was nice. On arrival at check-in they gave us a voucher for a free character breakfast in the steakhouse in the disney village :woohoo: . I don't know why they did this, not sure if it was just a one off but the kids really enjoyed it.

I'm sure you will have a great time.

Hi,
I have stayed at both the Disneyland Hotel(standard and cc)and the New York Hotel. The main advantage the New York has over the Disneyland Hotel is the swimming pool is very large, you have the ice skating rink right in front of the hotel, room service is cheaper:yay: and the portions were bigger and great views if your room is up on the 5TH floor or higher.

ive stayed in both..
the HNY is ok.. i thought the room we were in was a little tired and in need of a refurb - but that could have been just our room.
Its not luxurious like the DLH.... and I absolutely didnt like the breakfast arrangements. I was paying a lot for the room each night.. and I objected to everything being self service.. (I thought they should bring you coffee at least in the morning!)...

i have to say.. I MUCH preferred the DLH... the main reasons were proximity... there is nothing like being right at the gates..
the overall themeing of the hotel was more to my taste...
the gift shop at DLH was much better :)
and innoventions was much better for breakfast that the HNY in terms of the set up.

Now, all those things considered... would I go back? Yes I would. Its a lot cheaper than the DLH.... but it would be a compromise for me.

This probably isnt what you wanted to hear.. but Id rather be honest.

I can imagine that the skating rink would be fun in winter... :)

I have stayed at both hotels twice and TBH I think the HNY is just as good as the Disneyland Hotel. I would book the HNY again if we could not afford CC at the DLH as the DLH always seems so busy compared to the HNY.

i haven't stayed in DH but I LOVED HNY when we stayed there two christmasses ago. its really lovely, the restaurants are great (and even if u weren't keen on them there are so many in other hotels and the village), the rooms are airy and big, and the christmas decorations make it even more magical, especially the tree and ice skating rink outside!
you'll love it!
