Which do you guys think is the better place to stay?

We are going in August so would like an outdoor pool to be available, have never stayed at either hotels, its always been the Sequoia but we fancied a change this year!

Just wondered what the difference really would be between the two and if the price difference warrants the better hotel?

Thanks for your opinions.:goodvibes

I've not stayed at either so probably won't be much help :confused3

Obviously, the New York is much closer so easier to pop back to if you fancy a break. Are you planning on going in the next year or two in the winter months? If so, then I'd opt for the Newport Bay this time because IMO it's a 'summer' hotel ~ the walk back there will seem much worse in winter. Then you could stay at the New York in the winter when you would be grateful of the lesser distance.

Is the price difference between the two very much? Is it enough that you could splurge out on a nice meal/shopping etc with the savings? That would definitely sway me!

Hello, I have stayed at Newport Bay Hotel
We got a free upgrade to Admirals floor at NPB and loved it, I seem to recall having a balcony and the room was great. The indoor pool was lovely, however and when I stayed at Newport in July (2006) the outdoor pool was not open !!

problems you might encounter at NPB is that the ice machines on t he floors don't always work - can be annoying in the hot weather, also sometimes there is a long walk to the lifts.

I stayed at HNY, but I was quite young. I remember the entrance being very impressive but do nto remember the room being particularly great. sorry I can't remember more :(

I have stayed in both and if it were up to me I would choose Hotel New York every time.
In my opinion....
nicer rooms
more accesible from the Park
rooms more accesible inside hotel - no half mile trek
pool smaller but still adequate
much cleaner
breakfast IMMEASURABLY superior

The NPB is on my never stay at hotel due to its size. I love the HNY though, stayed there twice and staying again this year. It is much smaller hotel and it is less chaotic.

Was asked this question recently by a Facebook friend, I'm sure she won't mind me copying the reply on here:
You know that I'm a great fan of the the Newport Bay Club, but I have to admit the New York is fantastic and at the prices you've quoted I would most definately choose it over the NPB. I can't say that I like it as much to look at, I do love the nautical theming and colours of the NPB, but the service at HNY was top notch.
Best bits of the HNY, obviously it's proximity to the parks. Cafe Mickey's your next door neighbour what more could you want ? No breakfast times, just turn up, even on a late morning 9.00am we didn't wait more than 5 minutes for a table. Large selection at breakfast including bacon, eggs and sausages. Large selection of yoghurts including fat free varieties, pastries and cakes, selection of fruit juices and drinks.
Staff were really friendly, consierge were extremely helpful, no long queues for the character meet and greets in the morning.
2 basins in the bathroom, hairdryer and kettle on request, brought up within minutes of my asking.
We also had a fabulous room overlooking the Skating Rink and with the window open, (even in January we had to open the window, the room was extremely warm, despite me turning the heating off) you could hear the Disney Music playing, it was a really nice touch.
I haven't stayed at NPB since our trip in 2006 and I'd love to go back there one day, but there are lots of bad reviews of it and yet I think everyone I've read for HNY has been favourable.
I wouldn't say HNY is child unfriendly but it does have a grown up feel to it, that doesn't bother me in the slightest and didn't bother Liam 10 or Jessie 7, there is a childrens corner in there although we were never there to use it. The hotel room is slightly larger than at NPB I would say and there was a greater selection of TV channels, although this might have changed at all the hotels. WiFi is available from reception @ 10 euros for 3 hours and worked in our room, so I assume all rooms have WiFi access.
I honestly don't think you'll regret staying at HNY and I'm the one person who always said it's my least favourite of all the hotels, but I admit it I'm a HNY convert.
