Southern California Hotel near Science Center?

Any recommendations? We are in Palm Springs but my DH should be out of his conference after a half day at the end of the week so I thought we might stop over to see the King Tut exhibit on our way back home. Not sure what hotel would be avoid choice. Just looking for a reasonable rate for a hotel in the area. I figure it’s not worth fighting rush hour if we try to keep going. Thanks!
